Smaller Reception Venues

My best friend just got engaged and is looking to have about 80 people at her wedding. Anything up to $200pp is ok. What venues have low minimums? They are open to a Friday or Sunday, anywhere in NJ and up into NY State. TIA!

Yes, her family is very small and they want a cozy, intimate wedding. Budget isn't a huge concern but most of the places they are calling are 150-200 person minimums which is a ton of extra money. And up to $200pp - not only places in that high range.

Ditto Blue Hill, I have heard the food is amazing. I think Avenue does smaller weddings. James Ward Mansion, Lambertville Station, Terrapin.

Also, I can understand why they are concerned about minimums 80 ppl at $200 + isn't that much when you think about it that would equal about $80 per person if you had 200 people. 

It is hard when you have a small guest count.  Big weddings are very common in NJ. I have friends looking to have smaller weddings and it is very hard to meet minimums.

Our friends got married at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton NJ and had their reception at the restaurant there. It's also where my fiance and I got engaged. They have a 150p maximum and the food is FANTASTIC! It's all themed off of Wind and the Willows-

My venue is pretty cozy, I've booked what they consider their big room and that holds up to 200 people, so the smaller room might be perfect for your friend,  www.peronafarms.com

The Bernards Inn downstairs in the Silver Vault/Wine Pantry is in their range.  I think the  Main Ballroom minimum may be a bit higher but they should  negotiate.   They will also really work to customize the menu for you.  It is a beautiful old hotel and they take care of everything.  If your friend calls, tell her to ask for Lauren.
