Hair Stylist questions from a Super Cuts girl...

I know there's a spreadsheet around that lists hair stylists, but there aren't any reviews on it which is what I'm really looking for.  And I know that posts like this are done ALL the time, but when I did a search the same stylists kept popping up (Michelle LoConte and Stacy Pitt) and I'm looking for a few more options... especially ones who aren't super expensive (then again, maybe I'm naive and the prices I've been seeing ARE inexpensive, haha).

Side Note: I've never had my hair styled before except for my senior prom when my softball coach (who was supposedly a stylist) did the ugliest bee-hive looking updo on me... horrible experience.  And I usually go to Super Cuts for their $20 haircuts so I don't really have a regular salon to go to.  Now my budget self is wondering if Super Cuts does wedding hair, haha!

Anyway, here are my questions:

1. Who did you use for your wedding hair or who do you suggest (and where is he/she located)?  I'm getting married in West Orange and I live in/frequent  Somerset and Union counties if that helps.

2. Does he/she travel?

3. What is the cost for a trial and day-of styling?

4. Overall review of the stylist and/or salon?

TIA ladies!

I got ready at my parents' house in Bayonne, so I just went to a local salon that a lot of my friends in town recommended. The first one cost me $90 (including tip) for a trial that I wasn't thrilled with ... I couldn't afford to get another one at that price, especially if I disliked it again and wanted a third, so I started calling other salons.

I found one that charged $35 for a trial and $35 for the day-of, so I got a trial and I was happy with it. I don't know if she's travel ... it seems like she's the owner and sole hairdresser at her salon, so maybe you can talk to her and see. (And I imagine that the cost would be higher if she travels to you, if she's even willing to do it.) I have a review in my bio.

But, yeah, my best suggestion is to call some local salons until you find a price you like, and then go for a trial. And it'll probably cost less if you go to the salon rather than have her come to you.

Side note, my two BMs each went to a different local salon to get their hair done. We met at my parents' house for makeup. My sister/MOH went to the expensive salon where I had my first trial, and she looked great.

I'm going to Morgan at the Guillotine in Westfield. I'm going to the salon the day of but she does travel. Trial and day of is $80. She is my regular stylist and is completely awesome! I highly recommend her!

Also, if your looking for a makeup artist Lindsey at the Guillotine is amazing too =)
