Shannyn (and others...)

This is a post about a post..hah

Did you see the post on the CC board about the dog! makes me soooo sad!  I can't IMAGINE giving my dogs up no matter what they did.  And believe me we have had a HUGE learning curve with them.  I used to *laugh* at people for treating their dogs like kids and now I'm that person!  Anyways I hope a responsible/loving pet owner adopts her dog...

Oh god yes, I could not even post. I will 100% admit that my dogs are the spawn of the devil. They are mischievous and sneaky. Our backyard looks like a prison since there is so much dang chicken wire and fence and bricks everywhere to temporarily fix what the have destroyed. They chew up everything that is left lying around, they dig holes and they jump. But we love them so much and would never get rid of them. We train them and (wouldn't you know) they are getting muuuuuuccchh better. We know that when they do something bad, it is usually our fault for leaving it out, or not walking them enough, or not providing enough toys. We love them and that's just what you gotta do when you are a dog owner! Giving them back should not even be an option!

It makes me so mad that the OP says she's going to 'get rid' of it.  Not adopt, find it a home, ask family & friends, etc.  Just 'get rid' of it.  Those are the people that drop their dogs of in boxes or just leave them somewhere, helpless.  Our Jack Russells were left in a box overnight when it was probably pretty cold out.  Thank goodness whoever dumped them left their parents with them so they were kept warm.  Some of the comments on the post are just as bad as the OP!

Should I even ask for a link to this thread?  It will probably just tick me off.  Kind of like that one from awhile back where the OP basically said she wanted to kill her FI's dog but never answered any questions about what they actually do to exercise or train the dog.

Granted, I underestimated how much time, patience, money and energy raising/training puppies would take, but still I knew it would take quite a bit of my time and effort up.  Sad that people really just think a puppy is cute and adopt it, and then just dump it or sell it when it doesn't meet their expectations.

Sorry, I was catching up!!! Good grief, some people are such idiots!! I cannot even begin to tell you about my cat, long story short, that cat has cost me over 3k. Pretty expensive free cat!!! BUUT that is what happens when you get an animal!

This is exactly why I don't have a dog! I do NOT have the time or patience to spend training and playing with a dog. Why is that so hard to recognize in yourself? She should have known she couldn't handle a dog. Poor puppy.

I believe she said she was taking it to a no kill shelter in the beginning of the thread. Which still sucks, but that's better than just dropping it off in a box somewhere.

I'm sure she'll keep it until it's 1 or 2 years old and less adoptable, and then when it's behavior is REALLY bad (due to her own fault) she'll take it to a shelter.

See, I had no idea what I was in store for when I got a dog! But I just knew I had to stick it out, there was no way that I would give them up (even though I tell them to run away all the time lol). But either way, we love our dogs so much, and we do everything that we can do train them and love them. It is hard and it takes a lot of patience and understanding, but ANY dog can learn. I hate that she says how it is THIS dog that is the problem, it kind of makes me think she will get another dog in the future, and if that one is the same, exchange that one. She doesn't realize it is a living, breathing, ANIMAL.

Cassie on the left and Roxy on the right - Cassie actually managed to tear down a partition wall (yes you read correctly) when she was a puppy, ate numerous shoes. p-ed on my favourite dress, and opens the door of our bedroom every morning to wake us up.  Roxy isn't quite so bold but she's done her fair share in her time.  Thankfully they are both getting a bit more mature now!  But they're so god damned cute -  how could i be angry!!!!

Yup they're sisters - we had 8 puppies and the other 6 went to close friends and family  - i cried whenthey left!!  really cute kitty! your dogs get on well with the cat?

Awwww cute puppies and kitty! I'm long-term cat sitting for my mom right now (we've had her two cats for a year now, but she'll be taking them back next month when she closes on her new house.)

They're cute, and I'll miss them a little bit, but I have no desire to clean up after pets. I barely take the time to clean up after myself.

This is Tiger. He's the youngest (about 4 years maybe) and he is just so cute:

My cat is the ruler of the house, the dogs do not mess with him and he is too stubborn to back down. Mostly they like to pretend the other does not exist. But if they run into each other my cat has the death stare and the dogs get scared!

Aww cute little Tiger all rolled up like a roly poly!!!

All three of mine of mine have their moments of making me want to kill them, like when Penelope completely chewed up the back seat of my car, but they make up for it so much with how sweet they are. I know I could never get rid of any of them. One of my bloodhounds is a rescue and has been through five different homes that we know of and she is so sweet alot of work but sweet I don't understand how so many people have tossed her aside. I spent 6 years working at veterinary clinics so unfortunately I've seen so many people who for them animals are just a piece of property and it always would break my heart seeing how cold people could be to them and dispose of them so easily. That's one of the reasons I fell in love with my FI he loves and is crazy for animals just as much as I am.

That post horrified me...some the the other posters were just as bad!

We are the people that take the animals no one else wants! At the moment we have 3 babies- Snowy the manic depressive cat (seriously she is on meds), Tommy- the 90% blind cat and Rexy the dog cat (he seriously barks and plays fetch) who has some unique (read disgusting) quirks one of the most annoying is he wont clean himself down there so we have to wipe him like a baby.
Even with all their problems they are the most loving animals (well snowy has her moments) and I would never consider dumping thm somewhere.

The quirks are my favorite part of my animals! My cat snores louder than H, if his food bowl is half full he freaks out and does not let us do anything until we fill it to the top. He will run in front of us to trip us, meow very loudly when we talk, stand on us, anything, he has no shame.

My Bender I like to call him my special child, he is a little bit special. :) He does not fetch, his favorite game is keep away. He just does some of the dumbest things that makes us very aware that he is a little special :)

My Fry baby is smart. And I mean sneaky smart. They will try to destroy something, but as soon as we peek out the window at them Fry freezes and pretends that he was not doing anything, while stupid Bender just keeps on destroying. Fry is a fatty husky mix, and if he does not want to do something, he turns into a solid mass. You cannot budge him when he gets this way.

They are my special children and I love them. I could never get rid of them. I had a dream one time that my cat died and I woke up crying, H had to calm me down. I would never willingly give any of them up because I was mad!!! UGH I am getting mad just thinking of this!

I saw that thread too earlier today and it made me irked and so sad for that dog. That girl is such a bad owner and it seems like she's blaming her FI for wanting to get rid of the dog. I think she probably wants to as well since it ate her shoes. I still can't believe how she compares $100 to a dog's life. I'm not a pet owner but I think dogs are so fun! I didn't even bother posting since so many people were doing that already! And it still boggles me that she posted that thing online, what's the point? For the whole world to see  how horrible she is?

I haven't read the original post and probably don't want to.  Our dogs are not just pets, they are like family to us.  There isn't much I wouldn't do for them.  Last spring we spent a ton of money on a 6-foot privacy fence just to keep our dog in, as she was frequently jumping over our chain link fence.  She was a rescue and definitely has some emotional problems, but I wouldn't trade her for the world.

They are a lot of work, and unfortunately many people don't realize just how much their lives change after getting a dog.

Its okay esullens, you don't need to read it. Basically some really dumb girl that say how her dog ate $100 worth of shoes and they are going to get rid of it. First she says they left the door open, then she says the dog broke through 2 doors to get to the shoes, and her FI is MAKING them get rid of it. And the 300 posts about what a shitty thing that is. It is really shitty because that is what dogs do! They are freaking DOGS FOR GODS SAKE!!!! It makes my blood boil just thinking of it.
