Changing Your Name?

That is funny people are commenting on changing your last name, like its old fashioned.  I thought that was still pretty much the standard thing to do.
Anyway, I am not changing mine for two reasons.  One, I've accomplished "X" in life with my current name and I am still that person.  And two, my name is very Irish and I like that.  FI's last name is italian, and with my red hair and green eyes the Irish wins me over.

I am really excited about changing my name, I absolutely love how my new name sounds. I am very attached to my maiden name though and so it's happy-sad. I even went back to it after my first marriage but I'll be changing again as I guess we're both sort of old-fashioned that way. It is a hassle to do for sure and having three names in ten years doesn't excite me but at least this time I'll be done!

I have no plans to change my last name (and never did).  FI isn't thrilled about it, but I'm sure he'll get over it.  My parents must have given me Olivea's middle name because I already have two and the only reason the name change ever really made sense to me anyway was in the case of having a family (which we're not going to do), so...I'll stay a plain ol' Thomas, thanks.  (But I never give anyone grief about changing...I'm surprised to hear that you all are.  If anything, I get more grief about NOT changing.  Where are all these feminists you all are dealing with?) I didn't change my name, I'm too old and too lazy to deal with the details.

I had a surreal moment this week when the exterminator called my cell phone to arrange to come to the house and he called me Mrs. DH's last name.  I nearly told him that he called the wrong number *heh*.

<div>First off, thank you!  Believe me, that's the best I think I've ever looked (it was after the trial with the woman who's going to do my hair/makeup for our wedding).  And creepy?!  My FI and I spent two hours last night poring over the 2000 pictures from Dvohnout's and another Todd Wilson bride's wedding, so you've got nothing on us when it comes to creepy.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /></div>

<div>Heh on the flip side - another lady at work told me that it's good I'm changing my name because not to would be the worse insult you could ever give to a man. LOL  I'm pretty sure it's not the worst, but I just said "Oh yeah?" and walked away.  This lady also believes women should never cut their hair and should not go to college because being too smart could mean being smarter than your husband, and that's just not right. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif" border="0" alt="Surprised" title="Surprised" /></div>

Change of plans. Bc of some dumb new California rule I was unable to keep my maiden name as my middle name. It would cost me 300+ to change my name at the courthouse, so I'm taking this as a sign from the universe that I should just embrace my new name. I think I'm ok with it haha :)
