Wedding coordinators

Anyone who's had a wedding coordinator/DOC, can you suggest anyone in the QC area and maybe share some prices if you're comfortable with it? I've been planning everything on my own up til now but am feeling a little overwhelmed in thinking that I'm going to leave a lot of details out and not realize it until the day of the wedding. Thanks!

    Hello,
Im using Peg from Exceptional Events and I love her! he first thing I did when i got engaged was get a wedding coordinator. Im planning the wedding fom out of town and Im not from the area (my fiance is). We decided to go for her Full service wedding planning which means she is petty much available to us when ever we need her (by phone, scheduled meetings etc) and included with that is the day of and rehersal etc. They say that a wedding coordinator should be about 10% of your budget. Pegs prices are very fair we are paying roughly $1500 which is much less than what you would pay in down town Chicgo but like I said that is for the full service wedding coordination. The DOC is much less expensive (I believe around $700 but dont quote me).  Bottom line is for me personally it is 100% worth it.

I used Peg at Exceptional Events for "wedding consultation" starting six months prior (limited services, mostly advice) and will have her do "day of" this Saturday.

IMHO, her coordination/consultion services are only worth it if you really feel clueless, are out of town and need her to be your local voice, or need someone else to help you find your location, colors, vendor negotiation, etc.  Her consultation services for me came to be 3 long phone calls and some follow up emails. I probably paid $100 per hour based on her flat rate for that service.  I don't think this was worth it for me as I had 90% of the arrangements done before I hired her. I only had a few ceremony details and a two vendors  that I wanted input on but probably could have gotten the same information from her if I only had the "day of" services.  Having her do the "day of" has been a great help.  She is confirming with all the vendors, making the schedule and dealing with any hiccups the day of.  I'll post next week on how I think the day of services went.

thanks for the advice everyone, I think I could probably do with just a day of coordinator. I'm worried about how to make sure everything goes smoothly on the wedding day and really want someone to be there to help keep things in order.

Brandy -  I see that you have William Baumgardner as your photographer. I saw that you replied to my post about photography. Let me know how he is on your wedding day. Thanks! Have a great time this weekend!

I would second the vote for Peg from Exceptional Events. She does a great job. I previously worked for a hotel where I helped coordiante weddings. Whenever a bride utilized her services she was the first one there and the last to leave. Making sure literally everything was perfect and drama free (of what she could control!). My girlfriend used her for her wedding last summer for her day of services and we didn't even know she was there, she is that seamless. Plus she is a great non-family member to tell people, NO!

I fully endorse Peg Terrey and Exceptional Events for Day of Coordinating services. I left her out of my vendor review to write about it here. She was very professional and did a great job keeping everyone on time and as planned.  Her instruction was vital at the rehearsal and she kept my rowdy WP in line before the ceremony! She worked with the hotel staff on things so that I never had to worry about anything getting refilled or being tended to.  We did not have any emergencies but if we did, I trust that Peg would have been able to handle it. She made it a smooth event and took alot of stress off me. I was able to enjoy my event and be "in the moment" beacuse I knew she was taking care of things.  Her suggestions for the ceremony and the order of events were a big help. We also contracted with her to provide pipe and drape for our ceremony area- her price was reasonable and it looked lovely.
