Disappointment at Vera Wang

Behind the airy walls at Vera Wang bridal in Boston, lies a serious quality control issue.

I fell in love with the sample dress that I tried on and put in an order.  Six months later, when it arrived, it the color and quality of the fabric was off.  I was told that the color was due to a different die lot.  This would be understandable if I was shopping at Walmart, but not at a store carrying a very expensive designer label such as Vera Wang.  The quality of the fabric was nothing like the sample.  It felt like a rag.

I refused to take delivery of dress, as it was not what I ordered and not what was sold to me.  The owner offered to discount the sample that I liked so much, but I paid for a new dress, and did not want the sample that has now been used for the past 6 months.  Kind of like wearing a rental car on your wedding day-no thanks.  She also tried to convince me that it was in fact serviceable with alterations.  But sadly no amount of altering can fix the dingy yellow color or the feel of the raggety fabric.  So left with no alternatives, I asked for my deposit to be refunded.

Of course the owner refused, and I of course I refused to accept that as I am not receiving the item that I paid for.  This is now being escalated down the route of small claims court.

I hope by writing this, that other brides can avoid the same issue, save themselves the heartache and purchase their gown from a more reputable manufacturer.

Write  directly to the VW headquarters in NYC.  or call, sometimes you can get throught to someone in authority.

Your sales receipt is a contract.  Insist that they honor their contract or have a lawyer do it.

We ordered a VW prom gown from a shop in NYC and they delivered the wrong size and insisted that there was a weight gain involve.  Nope, we checked the measurements and the dress had been cut wrong.  The shop insisted there was no fabric left in that color but the head office had a gown, correct size and color delivered within the week.

This sounds like just one of those things.... Did you put the deposit on a credit card... because they will sometimes fight these battles for you.

I think a very well worded certified letter to corporte  vera Wang will probably do the trick.  They substituted fabric...Period ... You have the case they have the money to settle ... Its just persistence.   You don't need the big long story either just the facts.
I page...I ordered this and paid x number of dollars.  I got this and it is unacceptable.... you changed the dress fabric... I want my money back..Period.

To me a deeply discounted freshly cleaned and altered sample dress sounds like a good start on paying for some paint or curtains in the new house... Money in the bank!  But thats me post nuptial!

the owner of the business is in as bad a position as you are... sou what can she do but eat the money and have another expensive dress she probably wont be able to sell.

small claims, lawyers and all that stuff is a ton of work and really negative energy...Say that in the letter to corporate,   I can pretty much promise that the energy going that way will feel ridiculous by the time its all said and done.
You will get a great wedding dress..so try to keep the emotions down now and just manage the business part of it...

Please try to put this in a business frame of mind... getting crazy stressed about a dress... even if it is a wedding dress... only hurts you and the fun of the event.

Sorry this happened,  hopefully it will be the worst thing that does... but you can handle it!
