March 2012 Weddings

wedding band update

So I got a call from the jeweler today and they quoted me to make my band. $3000-$3300. *Choke* *Choke* *Heart attack* *Stroke*

That is outrageous!! Not to mention now I'm freaking out becuase I'm wedding bandless. And my only solution would be to try a local jeweler to get a custom piece made for possibly a cheaper price. But that also makes me forfeit my discount at the original jeweler. Or to try to find another jeweler that sells the designer.

SO FRUSTRATING!!

Re: wedding band update

  • Oh goodness, that is a lot of money! Hope you can find something within in your budget.

  • I know I already posted in our fb chat room dealio, but it will all totally work out Whit. I'm sure the other jewelers will be able to get you the same ring and for the same deal. Again, keep us posted. Fingers crossed for ya! :)

  • Yikes! I'm sure you'll be able to figure something out. We needed a custom band, and the designer of my engagement ring quoted us triple what it ended up costing us through a local jeweler -- for the same amount of platinum and carat weight.  Good luck!
  • OMG!!!! That is crazy!  ...

How does that work if you get your wedding band somewhere else?  Like you have to bring it in two different places to get it inspected/cleaned?

<div>Most jewelers will clean a ring they didn't sell... FI bought mine from bluenile.com so obviously I can't just take it in to be cleaned, but we bought his ring from Reed's and they've been kind enough to clean my ring and check the setting each time we were in.</div>
  • OH Whit!! So sorry...that is crazy!! But I agree with pp, try your local jewelers...hopefully they will be kinder to your pocket...stay positive!! :)

Oh I suppose that makes sense.  I was just confrused because most jewlery stores around here if you buy the ring from them and bring it in to get cleaned / inspected every 6 months (which they do for free) if you loose a diamond or something they will cover the all costs (instead of having to go through insurance or pay out of pocket) ... So that was part of my reasoning for staying within the same jewlery store so I didn't have to run to another place to get it inspected.
