Am I supposed to...

Am I supposed to provide dinner for the other vendors?  DJ, Photographer, caterers, etcetera?  I would rather not... it's expensive!!!

Thanks!

Re: Am I supposed to...

  • I don't think it's necessary for the caterers but I would at least offer to feed the photographer and DJ. If they're going to be there all night I think it's reasonable for them to expect to eat. My photographer actually has a clause in his contract saying that he has to have a few minutes to eat. You might want to double check if any of your vendors have the same thing.

  • You have to feed DJ, photog, videographer, all their assistants, DOC - basicall anyone who is there all day.  Ask your venue or caterer if they have a different price for vendor meals.  At my venue, vendors are 1/2 price - you don't pay for the bar because they shouldn't be drinking on the job.
  • Yeah, I'd recommend talking to your venue/caterer. Mine supplies food for the vendors, free of charge. Granted, most of the vendors are part of my package and partnered the with venue. However, even the ones that aren't (photographers, assistants, officiant) are all supplied a meal without being a part of my head count.

Agreed.  Also, as PPs have said, the venue often provides a discount.  Our vendors won't have any hor'deurves or drinks so I'm assuming that's why we're paying about 60% less for each of them. Thank goodness, because we've got 7 to feed!!

  • You need to check your contracts. My photographer's contract says "will provide 1 hot meal when working 6 hours or more."
  • Yes you have to provide meals for your vendors.

  • You don't HAVE to provide meals, but you do need to check your contracts. My photographer said that he usually sends his assistant out to get meals, but it was worth the $60 (3 x $20) for me to know he didn't have to be waiting on food, or that his assistant would be gone for too long. I'll be doing the same for my DJ.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • yes you should feed your vendors. but really it all comes down to what you want to do.  i know plates are expensive, but they are working extra hard for you that day to. just a little extra way to say thank you. i would try to find out if you could get a discount for your vendors.

  • It is also in my contracts with my vendors.  My venue suggested them eating at cocktail hour...it is much cheaper, so I am going that route.
  • My venue has "vendor meals" which are only $12/person.
  • My contract doesn't say anything, but all vendors  are accounted for, just in case. I haven't had all my final meetings, but I would rather it be offered, even if they chose not to. Then again, I have extra seating available that I'm obligated to pay for anyway, so I don't think I'm much help- lol
  • Just like PP's, all my vendors have it in the contract that they receive a meal. And my photographer said, he'll eat while we eat, because who really wants to be photographed or videotaped while you're eating...

  • It is totally rude not to feed your venders. How would you feel being at an event watching everyone eat and not being able to partake yourself? I'm going to assume you have more class than that.
