Hi March loves,
So, A LOT has happened in the last couple of days. My FI's cousin who is one of our very, very close friends, as well as a GM, is in the hospital. Monday night (11pm) he was having a hard time breathing. He called my FI, asked for a ride to the hospital. JP took him and after being there for a while, it was clear he wouldn't be leaving, so JP came back home.
(Quick background: Last week he went to urgent care with a coughing issue. They diagnosed it as pneumonia. His meds were gone by Monday and he was much worse, hence the call to JP
.) So, the doctors at the hospital quickly determined he didn't have pneumonia and in fact had some sort of heart condition. He's only 27.

By Tuesday afternoon his heart was functioning at 25% and was on a variety of machines to keep it pumping. They determined he got some sort of virus that is viral. They brought in new technology and were still hopeful. By Wednesday morning, his heart was functioning at 15% with the machines. JP immediately left work. I canceled my after school meetings and we rushed to the hospital. We visited for a few hours before they flew him by helicopter to Tucson, a city an hour and half south of us. They have better resources, machines, and experts at their hospital. (The hospital he was at is phenomenal, but even those that trained them work at the Tucson hospital.) Fast forward to tonight, things aren't looking much better. The better machines seemed to have been working at first, but have since not made much progress. Atlhough it's not 100% for sure, it's looking like he's going to need a heart transplant. Again, he's only 27. Tons of family have flown in and everyone's headed down south. We're staying here for the time being, but it looks like we'll be spending some time down in Tucson in the coming weeks and months.
It's so heartbreaking. We could really use your thoughts and prayers. Thanks!
