Sparty Request

Hi-

For those that have requested Sparty, what was the process after you requested him? Did you receive any confirmation and if so, how long did that take?

Thanks!!!

If you go to the MSU Alumni Association webpage there is a link for requesting Sparty.  You should hear back, but probably not until next year, since the students are on break and it is the Student Alumni Foundation that schedules him.  If you don't hear something by the end of January, I'd call and confirm they got the request.  Also, keep a record of when you intially sent the request so you can follow up.  We didn't have any problems with communications, but others have.  I think it depends on the responsiveness of the person in charge of scheduling for the current semester.

He was a great hit and well worth the money.

Ha!  That was the understatement of the year for us (which I'm sure you were referring to <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /> )

Spartybride - I answered you on the Detroit board but yeah, you need to follow up.  And get everything in writing if at all possible because that's the only thing that saved us.

I had an easy experience with my request for Sparty, but I also followed by email and phone several times to make sure everything was in place.  He was such a hit with our guests and people are still talking about him coming to the reception and dancing with us.  I agree with Gail that he was worth every penny and the effort we spent to get him there.

Totally agree on all the above! I was a little (well, more than a little!) horrified at the price initially, but he was the absolute hit of the reception.

How much did it cost to have sparty at your wedding?

It says in the request you won't hear from them until about a month before your event. My event is January 28th and I just heard from them last week stating that they recieved my request that I sent back in September. They'll send you a quote with how much he costs then, but it still doesn't guarantee he will be there, after you've agreed to the cost they'll officallly send in the request for Sparty, I'm waiting on the final confirmation. That's how its been for me so far! Hope it helps!

For an on campus event, the inital quote for us was $400 for up to one hour.  If you aren't in the EL area, I'm sure there are travel fees involved.

We weren't on campus, but in East Lansing and it was also $400 for an hour.
