As bad as you feel, you've done two big things right.  The first is picking a man who stands by you and loves you at any weight.  The second is wanting to lose weight for yourself, not anyone else.

Have you tried talking to a doctor, to make sure you don't have a hormonal problem?  A counselor, to help find if you have emotional triggers or behavioral patterns that lead to overeating? (I know I have them.)  Have you tried Weight Watchers, or any other program that gives your diet flexibility?  Have you tried a less severe diet, but added exercise?  Some people work best alone, others find accountability and a supportive community can help.  What have you tried?

There are lots of approaches to weight loss, and none of the good ones are easy.  But no matter how much or little weight you lose, believe in yourself and you will be a beautiful bride.

  • I agree with Raptor that you already accomplished two big things, and those are the things she mentioned.

Try to stay positive about it.  When you want to go eat something, just think "wedding dress!  wedding dress!".  Ask yourself if you are really hungry, or just plain bored with nothing to do.  If you are just bored, go for a walk outside if it is nice, or do a workout video.

You will get where you want to be.  Nothing is instant, so give it time.

[QUOTE]The best advice I've heard is to never go on a "diet" because you might gain it all back once you're off the diet, or you may end up pigging out on the "bad" foods you cut out. The best way to stay healthy is a lifestyle change. There are 2 main things I keep in mind: 1. Calories in/out. I'm on My Fitness Pal and that's where I heard it best. Weight loss is (pretty much) simply burning more calories than you're taking in. So eating less (but not too little) and/or exercising more will get that weight down. 2. It's not JUST about calories, but what you eat. Eating 1200 calories a day in Oreos is definitely not the same as 1200 calories in veggies. And which do you think will fill you up more? Cutting out as much junk as possible is good. But if you have a pop or cookie here and there, not a big deal. Just try switching things out for healthier versions and add in more fruits and veggies. Hope that helped! I totally know how you feel though. I try so hard to eat healthy and then I find myself popping a Hot Pocket into the microwave while sipping on a root beer. Don't let the slip ups get you down. Accept it, move on, do better next time :-)

THIS is great advice. I can't stick to a diet to save my life, but I joined myfitnesspal and it is really helping me stay on track with my goals. If you join, you can add me as a friend (same username as here) :)
