Black or white fingerless gloves?

I have a tattoo on the inside of my left wrist that I really should have thought about more before I got it, but oh well. I want to wear a pair or mid-forearm to elbow length, fingerless gloves for the ceremony to sort of conceal the mistake. The ones I got don't fit!

Do any of you girls have them/ know where to get them for a little bit bigger arms and not a stick figure?

These are the ones I got. I actually want something a little more... I don't know... fancy? I only got these ones because they were on sale for $5.

  • How big is the tattoo? Could you get away with wearing a cuff bracelet?

  • Etsy has alot of good options for this!  Just search fingerless gloves.  They have a hell of alot of options.

  • If you would rather not wear gloves at all....,...Kat Von D has some great tatoo concealer.  You can get it a Sephora, it is a bit expensive for a small amount, but it works great.

But if you are set on wearing gloves for the ceremony here is a link to a variety of them.  A friend of mine bought hers from here and they were beautiful.

  • None of those gloves are a good option. Get some concealer or a cuff bracelet like pp said.

I feel like it would take like $2,000 of tattoo concealer to cover all of Kat Von D's tattoos.

    This.

I'm going to be brutally honest here and say that I think bridal gloves of any sort are very 1980s.

All of this.  Obviously everyone has different tastes, but my personal opinion is that gloves with a wedding gown are ugly.  I think they take away from the beauty of the dress.  I'd try a bracelet, but honestly, nobody is going to notice the tattoo.  They will notice the gloves.

  • I have two tattoos, only one was visible and my hair covered it mostly.  I think you can see it in maybe 4 pics, out of 600.  Originally I wanted a dress with straps to cover it, but I was limiting myself by doing that and finally decided I didn't care if it showed a little, it's part of me, even if it was something stupid I did at 18.  I think you'd rather see pictures of a tattoo that is part of you than to look back in 20 years and wonder "what was I thinking".

  • I second covering it with makeup. Fingerless gloves just scream "Madonna 1980's" to me!

Also, have you considered airbrushing? I don't know much about it, but I'm doing research because I have a back tattoo I want to cover. Are you on good terms with a local tattoo shop? They might refer you to someone.

    I agree with this.

In my opinion, your tattoo is something you got for a reason.  It's partof who you are.  Honestly, a wrist tattoo is not that big of a deal.  AS Brandi said, no one will notice the tattoo, and if they do, so what?

  • I would say the concealer would be a better option. Dermablend is also a good choice, and maybe it would be cheaper than the other, but be sure to get the powder to set it otherwise it may rub off on your dress.

As for me, I have a huge tattoo on my back and it's my inspiration for my wedding. It's a cherry blossom tree and it represents new beginnings and love and life. Most of my other tattoos will also be on display.

  • I agree with PP's. Go with a bracelet or coverup.

I have tattoos on the top side of both wrists. My mom begged me to cover them up. I had 2 cuff like bracelets that I wore that covered them fairly well. Below are pics of the bracelets I wore. I tried to crop them to focus on the bracelet.

  • What are you going to end up going with?

I don't like gloves either at a wedding unless they are the soft lacey ones that only cover the hand. I would just use the consealer. Do you have a picture of your dress so we can see which would look better with iy anyway?
  • i like the bracelet idea, like 2010Bride has hers. you could do a blingy one if that's more your style

These look great!!  OP, is this something you're interested in?  I love the look, esp if you're trying to hide something.  I have a tatoo on the left side of my chest and was thinking of covering it w/ some stuff i found at Ulta (i can't remember the name for the life of me).

  • I don't really see the point of hiding tattoos. Why would you want to cover them up? They are a part of you and there is nothing wrong with them at all. It is a social construct and that's it.

I think you should just forgot about covering it up and own it.

  • i'm still trying to figure out how i'm going to cover the two tattoos on the back of my shoulder blades. my dad is VERY anti-tattoo... so I haven't told him about them yet (I've had them for five years) and I feel like he will secretly be pissed if he sees them.

...and they weren't the best decision I've ever made, so I'd really rather cover them.

  • It's not huge, it's just at an awkward enough position that I don't know if a cuff bracelet would cover it.

FWIW, I have no problem with tattoos, just this one. I have four tattoos on my back that I love and won't be covering. This one was poorly done and when I asked him to  fix it, it only got worse. This guy was reputable with a big name (for our area) shop, so I wasn't expecting this. I can't afford to get it removed any time soon.

I just want it to go away. So I agree gloves aren't necessarily what I want, but its better than this POC. So the concealer might work, but I would have no idea what shade to get. Any other suggestions?

  • If you are getting your make up done professionally, your make up artist maybe able to help.  Airbrush does wonders!  And, they will be able to match your shade.  If not, I suggest you find a professional make up artist.  If it really bothers you, you should spend the extra money.  I don't think dishing some extra cash will be something you regret, expecially if you are not fond of wearing gloves.    PLEASE, don't get the gloves unless your really really want them... they may be something you will regret.

  • I also just thought of another reason I don't think you should go with gloves. You're getting married in July in PA. I spent most of July 1999 at a weight loss camp in Millersville, PA (obviously it didn't work long term, HA!) and we had temperatures of over 100 for a few days straight. It was usually over 80. I can't imagine wearing any type of elbow length glove in that heat. I got married in July this year in MI and it was 85 and sunny. I was SO thankful my arms were completely bare, as the rest of me was under a big poofy dress.

I would try the special concealer. Maybe do a test run if you attend someone else's wedding or another event in the near future when your wrists will be bare.

One thing to note is that the tattoo is on the inside of your wrist, which means it won't show up much in photos. In posed photos you will be holding your bouquet in front of you with the inside of your wrists turned in toward your body.
