In Response to Re: Friday! : that is a cool feature! I would LOVE to use a crockpot but most recipes say 6 (maybe 8 hours) on low... well I am gone at least 10 hours from the time I leave in the morning so I always worry things will dry out, burn, explode??? I dont know... But that "warm" feature sounds awesome! I might have to look for one And YES it is Friday!! Thank goodness!!!
Posted by km2124
KM2124 - THIS IS THE POST ABOUT THE CROCKPOT!!!

IT'S AWESOME. I got it years ago when I was single. I call my crockpot Linda because it's like a housewife... dinner is warm and ready when I get home, and Linda is a SUPER common name for a housewife ;)

This is the most recent model of it: http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-Forget-6-Quart-Programmable/dp/B001AO2PXK It's basically exactly the same as mine, except it has a spoon with a spoon rest on the lid AND the lid is LOCKABLE. I wish my lid was lockable, as the lid slid off in a parking lot once and broke the handle :( There is black electrical tape holding it together, heh. It doesn't appear to say on the Amazon listing, but I believe it will stay at Warm for something like 10 hours, so obviously that should cover every single recipe while you're at work!
• All right, I edited my post so that this is the Friday thread. Here is what I wrote there:

I am in a seriously good mood right now. It's ridiculous, considering I'm at work, I had to drive through an inch of snow and ice to get here, and I had to get up early to go to work. But:

-It's sunny out right now!
-IT'S FRIDAY.
-I finished my monthly close work yesterday (I'm the Accounting Manager) so I just have regular stuff to do today, and hopefully will be able to leave early!
-Our new basement TV arrives tomorrow from Best Buy! No more fighting over who gets to watch what with H ;)
-I am stopping at the cable company after work to pick up the new DVR for the new TV.
-I threw a bunch of stuff in the crockpot this morning to make a soup. I have one of those Hamilton Beach 6-qt oval slow cookers with the timer that switches to warm after the allotted amount of cooking time has ended. I am hoping the soup turns out OK, as I didn't use a recipe....
-IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I know I already said this)

If they stay with their PST time crap, then you read from OP to the bottom, go to the top, and read through back to the OP. But if it goes back and forth like it did the other day, with some posts in real time and some in PST, well then there's no way to know unless everyone quotes when they respond. TK really really sucks. Yet we still come back...

I want to go on a retreat, but like a fun, non-religious retreat. So I guess I just want to go on vacation...

Charlie horses are TERRIBLE. Ouch.
• I'm losing the passion for my job. I've noticed that I'm leaving my house later and later so that I show up to work later and later, and when I'm at work, I have no energy, no enthusiasm and no motivation.

That is EXACTLY how I felt about my job in public accounting. My first 4 years there were fine, but the employee morale overall got really low and it was just terrible working there. I've NEVER been a morning person but I would usually arrive there around 9. Then I lost my passion for it and it got later and later to the point where it was like 11. Ridiculous, I know. But my lost passion and general distaste for my job turned into depression overall, which just made it worse. Then I was let go a year ago, mainly for getting there late consistently and for not doing as well a job. I am now doing something very different for a company that treats me better. I hope that if I start to lose my passion that I don't allow the time thing to happen again.

Is there anything you think you'd like to do better? Is it the work itself or the company? Personally, I determined it was the work and not just the company when I got into the same late arrival patterns at a different firm during tax busy season last winter. Once you determine that, you can figure out what to change!

Thankfully, I don't think it's supposed to snow much more today. It was mainly overnight. And it was small enough where the grass is still poking out :) A nice slide into winter without dumping 6+ in one night. Helps with the transition into winter driving!!

I find this happens (losing passion) to me every now and then, but it has happened in any kind of job I've ever had. When I find it happening, I try really hard to find something new to incorporate into my job. I know that it's not the career I've chosen that's the problem, it's sitting in a cubicle for 40 hours a week without seeing the sun and having the same routine day in and day out that gets to me. I love the work I do, but it is definitely tedious and boring to do the same thing every day - thankfully just when I think I can't take any more it usually gets mixed up, I'll get to go on a press check or go to one of our stores and test stuff out etc.

Look for little things you can do to break up your day maybe? Is there a way you can renew your interest?

Amythst may be right, if you really don't love your job and have an issue with the work you're doing, it might be time to hop careers!

I'm attempting to kind of recoup from work by working from home today. Had to anyway since it didn't make sense to drive 10 miles north into work, 10 miles south back home to pick up FI for this weekend, then drive back north to head to Witchita. So I'm working from home and just gonna leave from here. I think it's helping me not hate my job so much right now.

HA! I wish! My little ford focus HATES the snow and argues with me whenever there's even a slight coating on the ground. Took me 10 extra minutes to get to work today (for reference, it only takes me 10 minutes to get to work to begin with...so it DOUBLED my commute!)

I just hate winter. I'd be okay if we had a bizarre heat wave all of december thru march.

Oh, yes. I want to work in the radio industry. It's the only thing I've ever wanted since I was 12, and it's what I went to school for. But the field is competative and tough to break into.

I never really had a "passion" for what I'm doing now (market research). I was desperate for a job, was unemployed for 5 months, and then on short-term disability for 2. One day, my aunt said, "I work for this company part time, they have a full time opening, why don't you apply?" I did, I got the job but ... it was okay at first, now I can't stand it. I've only been here for 5 months but I feel like crying every day.

It's the work, it's the people, it's the company that I dislike. I started job hunting last weekend. There is a GREAT job I am gunning for (in radio), and I've sent in my resume. They're only interviewing for the position until the 16th, and the stress is killing me.

that is a cool feature! I would LOVE to use a crockpot but most recipes say 6 (maybe 8 hours) on low... well I am gone at least 10 hours from the time I leave in the morning so I always worry things will dry out, burn, explode??? I dont know... But that "warm" feature sounds awesome! I might have to look for one

And YES it is Friday!! Thank goodness!!!
The day started off great, but has turned into a sad day. My honey surprised me by coming up to see me last night after he got off work (typically we only get to see each other on the weekends). He has done this everynight this week. so I feel very blessed to have had the extra time with him. Then we received news that my sister's FIL had passed away this morning. They found out that he had cancer right before Thanksgiving. This will be a hard weekend for my family.

Oh I think you may have told me that before :) I live 10 miles south of the city and work in the city. I grew up in a SE suburb. (trying to be kinda vague here... we have lots of lurkers.)

My commute is 14 miles, roughly 17 minutes in good weather. I <3 GR.
