Anyone in the Philly Area?

I just moved to Philly from Boston and am getting married in November. We are getting married in Boston, and I made a trip up to Boston recently and went to 5 or 6 places, but have not found the right dress.  Can anyone suggest places in/near Philly that have plus size samples (I'm a 14, so 16-18) without blowing my budget (around $1000)?

You might have better luck asking on the Philly wedding board. It's under "Local Wedding Boards" on the left.

I am from the North Delaware area and have a few stores here that may fit what you are looking for, but I would suggest you post this also on the Philadelphia board.  The ladies over there are great and I'm sure they would have some suggestions in that area.  If you'd like the store information for north Delaware just let me know and I can also get you that.  Nice thing about DE is no sales tax so it will save you some money.

I purchased my dress (size 16) from Bridal and Tuxedo Shoppe in Newark DE.  I was able to purchase it off the rack for $695 and it was in perfect condition.  I found the majority of their dresses were in excellent conditon and they had a decent amount in size 16-18.

I also shopped at: Brides and Grooms (302-368-9007) 4627 Stanton-Ogletown Road Newark DE 19713.

They were also very nice and have a large section, I just found that I was a bit overwhelmed in their store because it was so crowded and hard to see what you were looking at. 

I had very good experiences with both stores.  But I have heard negatives about the alterations.

If you don't mind driving into NJ, I went to Arlene's in Bloomfield (just outside of Newark).  The plus-sized selection was obviously not as large as the other sizes, but they had a good 20 in stock. Not sure of your size, but a few other places I called had about less than half of this, and usually only carried up to a 14 as their plus samples. PM me if you want more details. This is the only place I went to, and I got my dress the first day of dress shopping!
