Re: What are you skipping at your wedding?

• No place cards. I've never been to a wedding with assigned seating.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

We're skipping: - garter toss - bouquet toss - programs - videographer - aisle runner - rice/bubbles during recessional - rehearsal dinner -- having a BBQ for any wedding guests to come to the night before - saving the first look for the aisle.... We're taking pictures beforehand - a grand exit. We plan on staying with everyone at the wedding all night
September 2012: May Sig

• We had to do STD's 99% of the guest list is OOT
We will be putting 1 Tolsby Frame at every table w/table # on the front menu on back

Will not have RB or FG
No wedding party dance
No place cards just a chart
The guest book will be a photo album of our E-pics so it does double duty
No aisle runner. Its either going to be on grass or cobble stone and I want to see where I'm walking

Thats all I can think of.
• We are not doing:
flower girl/ring bearer
garter/bouquet toss
wp dance
cake...well sort of, we are having cannoli's stacked up on the tiered cake/dessert server....yummy
video
church
save the dates
programs
wedding veil
guestbook

we are having
photography
dj
menus
first and last dance
father/daughter dance
and hopefully a wonderful, elegant, fun, happy night!!!!

We're not having ring bearers/flower girls. No kids. Anywhere.

No ushers.
No assigned seating at the ceremony (except for reserved for immediate family in the front)
No bouquet or garter toss.
No WP dance.
No assigned seating (although, we will have placecards for people to mark their seats since we're doing a buffet with only a coupld long tables)

Hmmm... that's all I can think of right now.

ETA: Now, that I've read some more responses...

No throwing anything after the ceremony.
No grand exit.
No special transportation.
No aisle runner.
No programs.
Garter/bouquet toss (no thank you! instead I am doing a New Orleans/southern tradition called a "cake pull "for my BM and close girlfriends...I am disregarding the marital status part and choosing charms that are universal and not related to being single) Posted by NO2012
What is a cake pull? I've never heard of it.
• You all have great posts! Had me thinking about what I am skipping at my own:

Not doing:
garter/bouquet toss
WP
church
programs
veil
guestbook
tiered cake
place cards
aisle runner
flower girl
RD
grant entrance to reception
grand exit
photo booth
favors (most waste of money in my book)
special transportation
menus
cocktail hour
cake topper
ushers
booze (its a 12noon wedding ending around 330 too early lol)
unity candle/sand

having:
video and photos (got a great deal with the photographer for the video/photos for the wedding since we are also going our engagement photos with him)
DJ (wedding gift from brother in law that is a DJ)
buffet style meal
decor (only splurge we decided to do)
cupcakes with a small cake to cut
STDs (OOT guests and others with tight work schedules and kids that possibly start school around the time of the wedding)
invites with traditional RSVPs
dress is being handmade as a gift from sister
first dance
father/daugther dance
ring bearer (he will be 11 at the time and wanted to be a part of the wedding)
special cake cutter (gift from FOB)
toasting flutes (another gift from FOB)
Frame with photo for people to sign instead of guestbook
father and oldest nephew are walking me down the aisle

debating:
FI and I are trying to think up the best way for the entrance to the reception. The reception is going to be at the same venue but will be sperated by a curtain. The decor we are doing is going to blow our guests away so its going to be a surprise.

Thought I was the only one that was skipping a lot of stuff.
