September 2012 Weddings

Invites & RSVP Dates

When are you mailing your invites? What is your RSVP date?

Our venue needs final count and seating chart 3 weeks out so I was thinking RSVP date at least one month to our wedding date. We will probably need to do some RSVP follow ups and I hear the seating chart can e stressful!

I also feel the summer months are crazy busy for everyone...vacations, holidays, etc.

Re: Invites & RSVP Dates

  • My invites are going out August 1 with an RSVP date of September 8 (wedding is September 29). My florist needs a final count 2 weeks before; every other vendor needs a count a week to a few days before, so I'm allowing myself an extra week to call the stragglers.

We are sending ours out in early August and we put our RSVP date as September 1st. I think it is kind of early... but we want some time to call the people who don't rsvp. Our wedding is September 28th.
  • Our wedding date is 9/8 and I plan on sending them out right after July 4th. The RSVP is August 12th I think. I need to turn in my final count two weeks before and I wanted a week to track people down.

  • Our wedding is Sept. 8th and our RSVP date is August 17th.  I am going to put mine in the mail around July 15th.
  • Sent mine out last week (my goal was June 1) and the RSVP date is Aug 1.
We have a lot of out of towners so planning and booking hotel rooms sooner rather than later was important (I was getting calls and emails in May about those details).
I also felt that with the summer months (and many of guests being cottagers) it would be best to have this out of the way.
It ended up being an even better choice than I realized cuz we bought a house last week and need to move mid August! :P

  • I sent mine out on Saturday with an RSVP date of 8/1 for our 9/1 wedding. I travel a lot for work and wanted to make sure that I had time to work on the seating chart and get final counts to all of our vendors. We also have many OOT guests and I wanted to be sure that they had time to book hotels/flights.

I can't wait for the RSVP cards to start coming back! :)

  • My wedding is September 1st.  Sending them out this weekend or next weekend with an RSVP date of August 1st.
  • Our wedding is 9/14. We are sending out on 7/7 (after we return from vacation) with an RSVP date of 8/14.
  • I am doing a DW so things are a little different for me, but very close to what others on my day are doing just a hint earlier :)
I am sending invites out this coming weekend hopefully (if I get everything together). RSVP date is Aug 22nd.

I sent mine out right before Memorial Day for my wedding on 9/22 since most people will be traveling and need to make arrangements. My RSVP date is 8/15.
  • We are trying to make it simple with one month in between dates:

Invites out- July 2 or so
    RSVP by date- August 2
    Wedding - September 2
  • We are getting married on a cruise ship and they have to have the final head count 3 weeks before our 9/16 wedding.  Also, everyone on both sides has to travel for the event so we sent out STDs in January and emailed everyone the wedding website with the accomodations listed a couple of months ago.  With all that said, we are sending out the invitations some time at the end of this month or early july and the RSVP date will be 8/6.

I have to have the list turned in by 8/24.  Since it's a carnival cruise ship I have to have everyone's ID #s and DOB.........I'm really hoping everyone fills out the cards correctly.  If not I will be making a bunch of phone calls and the gap between 8/6 and 8/24 allows for that.

    RSVP- Aug 22

    Wedding Date 9/8

The venue would like to have general number around a week in advance but they need final numbers 72 hours before.

You need a month to do follow up calls?!
Does the venue really care about the seating chart 2 weeks in advance? Mine are just table assignments but also we are having a buffet rather than plated dinner. I don't think my venue gives 2 shhhits about my seating chart other than to know how many tables do they need to set up, and they set them up 2 or 3 days in advance at the most.

  • My weddign is Sept 29th we are sending mid July and an RSVP of Aug 24th.  We will be out of town for labor day and my venue needs seating chart and head count, because they escort people to their tables and I have to provide seat and meal for each guest I wanted enough time to get it all done.  Hoping to have the bulk of them before labor day so I can work on it over the time off that gives me the week between due date and going out of town, and then  I'm sure there wills till be some stragglers into September.
