September 2012 Weddings

New

Just venturing over here to the Sept 12 board. I'm planning a Sept. 29th wedding in my hometown in NC. I myself am a wedding photographer, which makes planning my own wedding ridiculously hard.

Re: New

  • YAY a photog to ask a zillion questions to!

Welcome to the board, how are you doing in the scheme of planning? Colors? Venue?

  • Welcome to the board!

I agree with the PPs as well.  September 2012 brides are the nicest girls on this site!

  • Yay date twin!!!  This really is the best board.  Always the first I go to when I sign in and last I check before closing my browser.  Maybe because I am planning an out of state wedding but I really feel like the girls get me here better than on my local board(s) (live near Miami, wedding in DC).
  • Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

To answer a few questions, the wedding planning is coming along. We have most of our large things booked and just need to finalize the band and photographer. Of course there are still a million little things that need to be done.

I do have a wedding planner, which was a must for me and the first thing I booked. :) Our wedding will be large, around 300 people, I knew that it would take a serious professional to handle the events the day of.

I'm pretty sure I'm nuts for getting married during MY busy wedding season, but as I'm sure you all understand we just had to go with what worked best for us and our families. Being a photographer-bride is a blessing a curse. I know all the vendors, so in some respects it makes it easier to choose (plus discounts from friends don't hurt..haha). On the other hand it's VERY hard to choose sometimes because you don't want to hurt feelings. I'm specifically going with a photographer outside of my area because I didn't want to choose locally. We're all fairly good friends, and it was just too hard.

<div>Ask away! I'm always happy to answer questions! I actually stay away from my local board, because I would never want anyone to think I'm soliciting business (another reason I don't share too much info about myself personally) but if anyone has any more specific questions you're welcome to PM me. :)</div><div>
</div><div>The ceremony is at a waterfront estate here in town, and the reception is at an open air pavilion overlooking the marina. Colors are plum and gold. I've been pinning like crazy! I'm trying to minimize the number of cut flowers I use, because  with 300 people that's a minimum of 38 tables and A LOT of centerpieces. I'm leaning towards vases with the tall branches and crystals/votives with a few candles.</div>
