September 2012 Weddings

how much time are you taking off?

from work before/after the wedding?

We are not going on a honeymoon right after (probably not until the feb after the wedding) so I am debating how much time I should take off.

Maybe the week before (it's the week of labor day so it will be a short week) and then the Mon/Tuesday after?

We are both taking the Friday before and the following week. We will only be gone only half the week but are still taking the rest of te week off.
  • I'm getting married on 9/28 (a Friday), and I'm taking off the day before (Thursday) and possibly a half day on Wednesday the 26th.  I'm taking such a short amount of time beforehand, as most of my stuff will be done by then, and I have to take 7 business days off directly after the wedding for the honeymoon! :)

  • I plan on taking the Thur/Friday beforehand (as the wedding is 3 hours away and we need to travel up there and finish up last minute meetings) and then I am taking a 2 week honeymoon so I am barely working the month of September - woo hoo!!
  • I am taking off the Thursday and Friday before the wedding (a Saturday) and the Monday and possibly Tuesday after.

We are taking 2 weeks off a month later for the honeymoon.

  • I am taking off three weeks total. One week before the wedding which is a short week already with labor day and then the two weeks after for our honeymoon!

  • i'm taking off just shy of 2 weeks. i'll take the friday before (getting married on a saturday). i might take that thursday too.

then we'll take one week plus mon-wed for the honeymoon. but that first monday is labor day! so that's one less vacation day to spend. in total, it will be 8-9 vacation days. i get 22 yearly, plus i have 4 that i carried over, so i should be alright.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • I'm taking 2 full weeks off but my situation is a little differnt.  I live in FL and my wedding is in VA so I am flying up Tuesday before the wedding (on Saturday).  We leave Sunday for a week long honeymoon but then I am also taking off the Monday after the honeymoon to give myself a day to relax/unpack/breathe before dealing with a 2 week backlog at work.

This is exactly what I'm doing and my date is 9/28 as well!
    Anniversary
  • I'm taking off about 2 weeks - the week leading up to the wedding and then the week after for the HM.
    Anniversary
  • I'm getting married on the sunday of labor day weekend.  I'm not taking off any the week before, but I get off at 12:30 on fridays anyway, so I'll have friday afternoon.  Then I'm taking off the two weeks after the wedding.  Monday is a holiday though, so it only ends up being 9 days of vacation.  We go on our honeymoon the wednesday through wednesday, so we will have a few days before and after the honeymoon to veg out.  :)

  • One week (before the wedding). We live in Texas, getting married in Michigan so we need to be up early to apply for a marriage license and get things done. We're thinking about doing the honeymoon in November.

  • I am getting married 09/22 and I am off work 09/20 until 10/01
  • Three days prior and the week after. (FI is taking Friday off to help if needed, but more because he wants to make sure he gets off work in time for the rehearsal!) I'm a DIY bride, including all floral decor. I can get into my venue as early as Wednesday so I'm taking advantage of that! I contracted out the chair covers but I'm doing the sashes so lots of knots to make. lol

I recently found out my employer gives 2 paid days off for a marriage. It stipulates that you have to take them immediately before or after the wedding. And you are only allowed this once per year, which I found hilarious!

</div><div>We're taking off a couple days before the wedding, a week for HM and a couple days after to just recoupe from everything... so maybe about two weeks..</div>
  • I am taking a half a day either the September 12th or 13th and will not be returning back to work until September 24th. FI will be taking the 13th and be back to work the following Thursday or Friday. Most of the out of town guests are coming in either the 13th or 14th so we making sure one of us are there at the airport or hotel to greet the guests with welcome bags and a heavy dose of Southern charm and hospitality :)

    Anniversary Vacation
  • We are getting married on a Friday and I am taking off the Wednesday and Thursday before. Wednesday will be a last minute details day. And Thursday spa day and rehearsal.

We will also both be taking off 6 or 7 business days in December for the honeymoon.

Well, I'm a wedding photographer and September is my busiest month. Yes, I'm nuts...haha. I'm getting married 9/29 and I have weddings pretty much every weekend right up until mine. I'm probably going to take the couple days before my wedding off. We're waiting until Feb to honeymoon (ski vacation) but we *might* take a few days for a quick getaway - it really depends on my workload. At the very least I'll take a few days after the wedding "off".

A good majority of photographers these days outsource their edits, or at the very least have an in-house assistant/editor. I've always preferred to do my own editing, but instead of taking time off I've considered outsourcing a couple of my sept. weddings just to free up some of my time/sanity.
  • We're getting married on Friday, 9/7. I work for a very small company so on 9/6 I have to go into work for like 2 hours. So I should be out of work by 9:30am the day before. Then I'm off until I return to work on 9/17 =]

  • We are getting married on Saturday 9/22 and I plan on taking Friday 9/21-Monday 10/1 off.  That will be the day before the wedding-the day after the honeymoon.

  • About 2 weeks total- off from the Tuesday before, back to work 2 Tuesdays after. I work nights, so I wanted a few days to transition back to a day schedule before the madness starts! Our mini-moon goes Sunday to Friday, so we'll have the weekend to decompress at home, and I'll get one extra day after he goes back to work.Hopefully only missing 4 days of work (I'm an RN, working 3x12).

  • Originally I was going to take Thursday/Friday before the wedding and then maybe a couple days afterwards, but it depends on family coming from out of town. We might be planning a little trip to Montreal with them after the wedding so I might take the entire next week off. It also depends on what needs to be done the week before. I don't have anyone in town helping me run errands, so I might need to take more time that week. Luckily, I have a good chunk of holidays and some that will carry over from this fiscal to next. We also get extra time for getting married ;)

  • I am getting married 9/1 and taking off the Thursday and Friday before, 8/30 & 8/31. We are leaving for our HM on 9/16 and I am off 9/17 - 9/24, returning to work 9/25.

    Can't wait! :)

  • I'm taking the Friday before and then two weeks after.  I should probably let my superiors know.... ;)
  • I am taking the wednesday, thursday and friday off before the wedding, get an extra day off for labor day working tuesday, wednesday and thursday then leaving friday for the honeymoon!
  • I am getting married on 22nd and taking the 21st off and the whole next week off for resting and the honeymoon.Just depending on the stress level. I might take Thursday off.....

  • The honeymoon is 16 days with travel days included.  I'll probably take the Friday, before and the day after we come back off as well.  I'm pretty sure it will be unpaid.  I'm not eligible for vacation time for a year after starting, but I forget if I'm salary or not, so I'm not sure how that will work.
  • We both decided to take a week.  It is a Thursday wedding, so we are taking off Tuesday to Tuesday, possibly Wednesday. So 7-8 days.  We are also not doing a honeymoon, only a mini moon probably until Monday.
