Vendor contract lacking something.......

Since I am up, decided to read thru some of the contracts we already signed and see if I had anymore questions about them. Vendors got the third degree from me already before I signed anything (doing it for a living started to go into my personal life lol). I picked up the catering contract to start planning out the payment plan then one thing popped out that was strange, there was no information when the final payment was due! I understand she told me verbally but I perfer to have it in black in white on the contract so there is no confusion. Going to contact the vendor back on next week (contact is on vacation until then) to get everything cleared up.

Do or have any of you experienced anything similar like this during your planning?

Re: Vendor contract lacking something.......

  • I have been very lucky so far with vendors, I haven't had any problems or concerns. That being said I am working with less vendors than most people lol the resort includes catering, rentals, DJ, venue all in one, my cake is being made by my bridesmaid as a wedding gift (that's what she does for a living) and I did all my own silk flowers.
  • I am having this problem with my photographer.  Our initial contract was very thorough.  But, we switched our date after signing the contract and we asked for an updated one.  He has still yet to get it to me.  I have emails that agree to the new date and his website has a calendar of their events and it has been updated with our new date but I'd still like an official contract with our new date.

I so understand on this. And updated one should always be done so the right information is always on the books and you have it for your records. Thats why I request for updated information and I actually keep the old ones with my notes cause I ran into a problem with my decor vendor for the wedding after having to make some changes. I talked to the co-owner over the phone about some changes and so she told me that she will get it done. I come with the deposit, the paperwork was not even correct (another associate handled the paperwork) so the other co-owner (her husband) fixed everything and made sure I had copies of everything. It sucks you have to go that far when you are dealing with professionals but it happens a little bit too much for my comfort.
