Do you sleep with your ring on??

This is a silly question, but I'm curious how many of you sleep with your ring on and/or shower. I usually take off my ring to shower and sometimes I will take it off to sleep at night when it's feeling extra loose. It's silly, but I become afraid it'll slide right off of my finger!

Re: Do you sleep with your ring on??

  • I keep mine on. I usually only take it off if I am cooking and my hands are going to get  gross (i.e. meatballs). Or if I'm putting lotion on, I hate when lotion gets into the setting.
  • If I'm going to the gym in the morning then I'll take it off the night before.  My fingers are bigger in the morning and it's harder to take off then.  (I have already scratched it by wearing it to the gym and lifting so I don't wear it there anymore!) Otherwise, I leave it on and shower with it on.
  • i actually take mine off quite often. the first week i think i wore it all the time, but now i take it off whenever i sleep, shower, workout, or cook. i'd love to wear it more but i'm terrified of it getting ruined/lost. we have insurance but i just don't want to have to go through that hassle.

  • I cannot sleep with my ring on, it is set really high and is sharp. I also take it off to do dishes/shower.  I will probably keep my wedding band on while I sleep, but I'm not sure.

  • I wear mine to sleep, but I take it off for working out, showers, yard work, or cleaning with chemicals.

  • I take mine off before bed everynight and don't put it back on until I've showered the next morning.  I can't sleep with any jewelry on at all so I take it all off and keep it nice and safe in my jewlery box.

  • i do the same as you kelly - i don't sleep/shower/cook hardly anything with it on. esp work out for the fear of scratching it - etc as someone else said. but I have noticed that lately I will feel it to check its still there - like it feels more natural to have it  on - that when I do I forget if that makes sense...
  • I sleep with it on, but take it off to shower, cook, clean.  I don't want it to get damaged.

  • I actually very rarely have mine on. I cannot wear it at either job I work at for safety reasons. I don't wear it when doing housework because i have bumped it good a few times and am nervous I'll knock the stone out. I tend to forget it when we go out just because I am used to going days without it. FI gets rather annoyed when i forget it, though. I don't sleep with it on either just because I don't feel comfortable.
  • I don't sleep or shower with it on.  I also take it off when I am doing dishes or cooking something messy or cleaning.

  • I pretty much don't take mine off....  if I do it goes immediately on the necklace around my neck-I lose stuff way too easily

  • I dont wear mine alot.  FI has not yet gotten it insured... grrrr... so I dont sleep with it on, cook with it on, clean with it on, shower with it on.... so I basically put it on when i go out... when I remember....  I would sleep with it on, but I get really swollen at night and its uncomfortable.

  • I sleep with mine on. I took it off once when I first got it and the cat knocked it off the dresser. I spent two hours looking for it, thinking I had lost it. Not a fun feeling, I cried the whole time. The only time I ever take it off is to shower, wash my hands or put lotion on.

  • I have become much more accustomed to wearing my ring so I leave it on most of the time. It was hard for me to get used to because i was never a ring wearer and they jeweller did not size the ring correctly so it would fall off my finger very easily.
Some nights I take it off and others I leave it on. I'll take it off to do dishes or anything messy. I'm just so scared to lose it that I'd rather keep in secure on my finger :)

  • I take mine off in the shower and I do not wear it when I sleep. I used to take it off when I washed my hands but I was afraid i would drop it.

  • I've always taken all of my jewelry off when I get home.  I feel weird with any of it on at home, but then I feel naked if I leave the house without it.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • my fingers swell at night so i take them off.. and to shower..do dishes clean and cook.. but other than that im always wearing it. feels weird without it on now
  • I wear mine all the time!  FI purposely chose a low set ring so that I could always wear it, even at work :o)
  • I sleep with mine on even though it's set high and I sometimes scratch myself with it in my sleep. I do take it off to shower, clean, put lotion on, and exercise. I probably shouldn't wear it to work because I work with my hands and it frequently gets caught on things/hit on things/etc. But I get it cleaned & checked every 3 months or so. I just feel too weird NOT wearing it.

  • I feel like mine is off more than it is on..hmm.  When I think about it I dont' wear doing the dishes, baking and sometimes cooking, taking a shower,  sleeping if my fingers are too puffy and while I'm at work. WoW!
  • Negative.  I'm a crazy sleeper so I'm sure I would hurl it off never to be found again.

  • I try to wear mine as much as possible, but I have eczema so I have to take it off when I shower, and when I wash dishes/clean with chemicals.  I also take it off when I put lotion on and somtimes it comes off when I go to the gym (I don't generally lift weights).

  • I sleep with it on, but I do take it off to shower, wash my face, do my hair, etc lol
  • I take it off to sleep because it turns & makes a dent in the finger next door. I'll also take it off for really yucky/gritty work. I'm not really lifting right now, but when I do, I put it on a chain. I'm an RN, I do wear it to work, but I spend more time in gloves than out of them, it seems like. It's fortunately pretty low set and it's never torn my gloves at work, and I'm very cognizant when I take my gloves off & pitch 'em- it's never come off that way, but my hands get very cold at work and that's when the ring is loosest, so I'm careful.

  • I take my ring off for sleeping, showering, cooking, and gym-ing. :)

  • I wear mine nearly 24/7!  It's definitely become a part of me.  I'd rather have it on all the time and get a little grimy, than to keep it pristine but not enjoy it.  I love that mine is small enough to wear to my active job, I can turn it around to get it out of the way if necessary, and it rarely gets snagged on anything.  Oh, and I definitely have it insured so I don't have to worry!
  • I actually only wear mine when I leave the house for outings.

I take it off to shower and sleep. I work from home, so most often I'm working in my PJ's all day and don't bother to put it on. I also do a lot of activity - horse riding, running, high-intensity workouts, swimming, etc on a daily basis.

We got engaged the week before Christmas and I wore it to bed that night, because I was so excited, but haven't since then. It sits too high.
  • I take it off to sleep, shower, do dishes, clean, put on lotion, etc.  I've even been taking it off midway through my runs/workouts and putting it through the wire on my headphones so it doesn't get lost.  It's getting looser as I lose weight, so I think that's a major reason I'm taking it off so often.  I might have to get it re-sized :(
