Address label tips

While I know you're not 'supposed' to use address labels, I don't really care, I think they look nice especially when printed in a nice font on clear labels. So what I am wondering is if anybody has used these and how you made your guest list, like in an excel program or what? I can figure out the main just name and address but I'm not sure how to put it in if I want it to say 'and guest' or 'mr. and mrs.' Any other tips as well would be much appreciated! Thanks!

  • @mrswos2013 despite what other people will tell you, I'd rather stick to the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." AHEM!

Use Microsoft Word--they have a free template that will probably match your labels (i.e. I've used them with Avery labels and on the Avery site there is a template for Word you can download and you know things will print perfectly!). I used a similar font to what is on my STDs and Invites. You will find it is pretty simple, highly recommeded!

  • While I don't really care for the look of address labels on something as formal as a wedding invitation, I'm also part of the 98% of the population that really has more important things to dwell on than whether a bride used labels or not.

That being said, my mom has used them in the past for various things, and I think most labels will either include a template for you to use or instructions on how to create one.

For married couples, I worded mine "Mr. John and Mrs. Sally Smith" and for single guests with a random plus one I worded it " Mr. John Smith and Guest".

  • If you have inner envelopes, the "and guest" goes there.  But it's most proper to find out the name of the person's guest and include them when you address the invitation.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • If you have spare envelopes, try printing the addresses on the envelope themselves -- I swear it's not that much harder than doing labels, it just takes a little more time, and it looks SO much better and more professional.

That being said, PP's are right, if using labels, use a MS Word template and try to get guest's names.
  • Oh, and if you use Excel for the guest list, use a "Merge" to get them onto a Word document - this may not work for label templates, but it definitely will for printing directly onto envelopes.
