Wedding Invitations & Paper

Yet another STD question

So I know that address labels are a big no-no for invitations, but what about save the dates? Is it ok to make an address label or print addresses not in cursive? What about return address labels? Is that ok to do or should I hand write that too? Thanks for the help!

Re: Yet another STD question

  • Agree with PP - just hand-write them.  It really doesn't take that long.  I just received my first STD with a printed label, and I swear it was the first thing I noticed and commented on to my FI, before I even looked at what the STD was a picture of.  The second thing I noticed was the really incongruous stamp.  Don't ask me why, but I'm finicky about those sort of things.  They used the hawaiian shirt postcard stamp instead of buying something that matched their wedding in Atlanta in any sense.  And see?  I'm still talking about it.  I think invitations, save-the-dates, and registries/websites should be done right.  They're the only things about your wedding that guests will have ample time to contemplate before the big day.

  • I sent my STDs out right around Thanksgiving and handwrote the envelopes. I followed those up with my Christmas card which was printed. People told me they knew that the STDs were not Christmas cards because I hand wrote them...it really did not take much time since you don't need to make the hand writing perfect :)
