*Vibes needed*

I'm getting an MRI for my back today at 3. I'm a tiny bit nervous about the results. Has anyone had an MRI before? What should I expect? Oh, and I could use some vibes! Thanks. :)

GL Molly! MRI isn't anything to worry about. Take a pair of earplugs - the "thump thump" sound can get a bit loud

Lots and lots and lots of vibes! I've never had an MRI but DH has had tons because of his MS.  He says it's easy peasy - no worries, hun!  Just know that it might make loud sounds - and that's okay!

Thanks! Hmm - do you think that they allow iPods? That would be awesome.

Oh, LOTS of vibes! And hugs! I had a CT scan once, but no MRI. I've heard they're painless, though!

Many vibes to you!I'm supposed to get an MRI done on both of my knees (I lost the reflex in my knees after a snowboarding accident and my doctors are confused as to why, lol) but I've been avoiding it. Let us know how it goes!

GL!  MRIs are very easy.  Doubt if iPods are allowed - they make you remove any metal. :)

GL!  Think of it as a nap time! :)

Vibes! Ditto the others, there's nothing to an MRI. No Ipods though, you can't take anything metal into the room because of the super strong magnetic field that the MRI generates.

Thanks. :) I just read online that some places have earphones that play soothing sounds. Hopefully they can hook me up with that while I nap. :P

Molly, the last time I had one done, the music they were sending in was from a radio station out here called PraiseFM. I spent an hour listening to a gospel revival. Ask if they can pipe in something you actually like.

MRIs are only scary if you are clausthrophobic or scared of loud noises. Plus, the whole thing of having to go through one is nervewracking!Vibes that the results are good!

Sending many vibes your way. DH had to have a CT and an MRI a few months ago he said they were not bad just loud. They gave him a towel to put over his eyes and he said that he just tried to take a nap so he wouldnt move. He said that was the hardest part was not moving. But other than that it wasnt too bad.

I have far too much experience and I have to say that once you have one or two as long as you aren't after of closed in spaces it's no big deal at all. For the places that don't give you music to listen to they always give you ear plugs (new ear plugs, no germies) to help drown out the thump thump noises. I seriously nap through every one of mine, for which ever body part it is. To me the worst part is as soon as I'm good and napping the person will speak and ask if you are ok and it usually wakes me up. I remember my first one (I was 14 or 15) and I was very worried about keeping still like they asked me to, so that made me fidgit. Don't worry is the best advice I've got, they don't hurt and in the end you'll have a good idea of how to make yourself feel better! GL! *hugs and vibes*

Many vibes Molly.  MRI'S aren't that bad, but I am sure can be terrifying for a claustrophobic person.  Good luck and keep us posted!

Good luck Molly, I don't think MRIs are anything to worry about.LOL Shannon, I think I'd have asked the MRI techs if I had something to worry about, seeing as how they were playing gospel music!

I'm late, but I wanted to chime in.  I've also had more MRIs than I care to count from my brain to my foot.  Usually they can pump in music for you, and as PP stated, you can't have metal with you so no iPod.  Taking out all your jewelry is a good idea, and don't wear a bra or any clothing with metal on it.  Wearing comfy clothes is nice too.  Just keep as still as you can - otherwise they may have to repeat certain parts. It's loud, but you get used to it.  Hoep everything is ok!  GL!  And many vibes to you!

MRI's aren't too bad. Just be sure to stay really still or else they'll need to repeat the whole thing (learned that with my crap hip). Good luck and sending vibes your way!
