HELP! Printing Invitations & Envelopes - Printer is printing crooked

I'm trying to print my invitations and envelopes on an OfficeJet printer, and because the paper is smaller than normal or thicker, the wording is crooked.  Has anyone else had this problem and know of a solution?  I don't want to re-start this process.

Have you tried moving your guides on the printer?  Most printers will be able to print smaller douments, but you have to move the guides so the paper goes in straight.  As far as the paperweight, that could be an issue.  Printers will only be able to handle up to a certain weight of paper.  Usually it jams if it is too thick.

Use your printer manual to see what the specifics are.  If you don't see it, then go to the printer's website and look in the FAQ.

  • If you can't get your printer to work, consider a stamp for the return address.  You can get them very cheap online (for the same price as a non-custom stamp).  This, however, won't help with printing on the front.  I hope PPs advice works for you.
  • It really varries by printer.  You might look for message boards on your printer's manufacturer's website for specific feedback on how to improve performance on that particular printer.

It's usually easier to print on full sheets, though.  Do you have that option?

I had the same problem when trying to print my response envelopes. I was originally printing with the flap closed and once I opened the flap it started printing straight. I think it was a problem with the height changing mid-way through printing that was causing the paper to shift. Hope that helps!
