Stupid RSVP question

Are you supposed to include an RSVP card for every person invited? For example, I am inviting my Aunt and Uncle and they have five children, Does that mean I include 7 RSVP cards in their invitation? I guess I don't understand how you are supposed to know who exactly is coming if you don't do that. The traditional RSVP card has the
M___________
___accepts
___declines
Will they know to put all 7 of their names on that line if I only include one RSVP?
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I just have no idea what I am doing.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's just one RSVP per invitation typically. If all of their children are minors, then they could all have the same invitation. If any are 18 and over, they should receive their own.

I would spell out each of the children's names on the envelope so they understand they are all invited, yet it is less ambiguous than "and family" which some people take very liberally.

If you are worried people will not write out everyone's names who is coming, you could put a line like "# attending _____" or something along those lines so if they put 7, you know the kids are coming. If they put 2, you know it's just the couple.

  • Typically on the M_______________ line, people write the names of those attending.  Summer also has a good suggestion.  We didn't really have an issue with only some members of a family coming.  It was either all or none, except for one family that I had previously talked to about only two of the four coming.
  • We filled in everyone's names on the M_____ line, and then they wrote in the numbers on the other blanks. We had a couple people just X it and not put numbers, so we called them to verify how many in their party were coming.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
