program help...

This may be a very stupid question so please forgive my ignorance. I'm trying to put my programs together and looking at the outline that the Reverend gave us... should I write all of this or can I combine some of them... how would you do it? His outline says this: Entrance Sentences of Scripture Statement on the Gift of Marriage Prayer Declarations of Intent Affirmations of the Famillies Affirmations of the Congregation [Psalm, Hymn, or Spiritual] Readings of Scripture Sermon [Psalm, Hymn, or Spiritual] Vows Exchange of the Rings Prayer Lord's Prayer Annoouncement of Marriage Charge and Blessing [Psalm, Hymn, Spiritual, or Anthem] TIA!

From what he gave you, all you need is the Entrance/Recessional Music listed and the readings/responses.You don't have to outline the rest of it unless the congregation has to participate in it.

Hmm, I didn't have all of that, but I'm thinking you could combine Affirmations of the Families and Affirmations of the Congregation. Also, how about combining prayer and Lord's prayer?

I had the same problem. I think I took out one or two, but kept almost everything in there. I like being able to follow along during the ceremony (usually so I know what to do, where to look, or where we are in the ceremony, time-wise). I'm no expert at all, but maybe you could go with these: GreetingDeclarations of IntentAffirmationsPsalm...ReadingSermonPsalm...VowsRing ExchangePrayersAnnouncement of MarriageBlessingPsalm...

N- I added the music and we told him if he wanted to do a reading he could decide so as of right now, we don't know if he'll do one and if he does, we don't know which he'll do. So am I understanding you that you wouldn't put his outline in the program? Just the music?

Yeah, I wouldn't do the whole thing. I would do it vague: -bridal party-processional music-readings (it can just be a header, or if you know the readers you can list them)-vows-exchange of rings-blessing of the couple-recessional musicBut, D's point of wanting to follow along is a good one.

I would put the whole outline (or the majority of it) in the program.  But, as a guest, I really like to follow along and know exactly where they are at during the ceremony.

I like to be able to follow along with a ceremony too.  I used general (Catholic) descriptions along with our music - "Liturgy of the Word" for the readings, gospel, homily.  Rite of Marriage, Exchange of Vows, Blessing of the Rings, Lighting of the Unity Candle, etc.HTH a little.
