How to include coworker...

I pretty much have my bridesmaids and Fi has his groomsmen technically I have 1 less than him but I'm ok with it. I'm very close to my coworker I want to involve her in my wedding as more than a guest but I don't want to give her a ridiculous task. I already know she'll be involved in the planning of the bridal functions which I don't mind. I want to make her apart of it but not as a bridesmaid. Any suggestions or ideas?

Re: How to include coworker...

  • As the etiquette board would say, being a bridesmaid you have no task that are required. Just show up the day of, you should never have people doing things/ That being said I just maybe include her by asking, Hey I am making a few DIY projects wanna come over for Drinks and relax, maybe we can work on those too, or ask if she wants to maybe come to a fitting for your dress with you. But I wouldn't make her do anything.

I think my post came off in the wrong way I don't mean I want to give her a task, I want her to feel more important that she is more than just a guest at the wedding.
  • I think you're either in the WP or a guest...  People do other things like have people watch over the present table, etc, but I always think thats weird.

  • You could always have your friend do a reading or something like that, if you're doing those things.

Me too! NOBODY wants to man the gift table or watch the guestbook.

Really?! What's the purpose of that? If I thought a guest would try to steal something I wouldn't invite them.

I agree with the DIY projects, or a reading.

  • Yeah that's why I was asking for other ideas, I don't plan on making anyone do anything like that. I just want to involve her. I'm not big into special readings.
  • I would just take any help she gives and make sure that she knows how much you appreciate everything she has done to help. Plus, at the end of the planning when you get your WP gifts, make sure you get her a little something too.

Ditto PP. If you don't want to have her in the wedding party or do a reading then I would just have her as a guest. I think being guest at a wedding is important, the bride and groom wish to celebrate with you so you don't need to have her do something else to feel important if that makes sense.

  • if you could say to yourself- we are close friends outside work and if you didn't work together anymore would you stay in contact as good friends.  IF so I would add her to your WP because she's a recent special friend of yours.
