Questions to ask a florist

I have my first florist appointment tonight.  I'm curious if there are some "must ask" questions to make sure I have all the information I need to make an informed decision.  Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Re: Questions to ask a florist

  • Make sure to ask if there are charges for set up/tear down and/or delivery, and ask those to be quoted to you when you receive a price quote so that they aren't changed later. Also ask how close to the wedding you have to make a final decision on anything--flower type, color, arrangement, ribbon color, whatever. I would also ask when they typically arrive the day of the wedding, and make sure this fits into your schedule/when you would need the flowers and any flower decor. You don't want them to tell you one hour before the ceremony when you plan on taking first look photos, for example.

Also, florists vary on whether or not they give you an itemized quote (I think they worry that you will take the list they gave you to another florist and ask for a better price), but definitely make sure that you get some sort of quote, not just, "Oh, this typically costs $4-6 a stem." If there is an issue later, you want to have it in writing that you discussed X, Y, Z flowers, the number of bouquets, centerpieces, etc, and a price quote for those items.
