When is too soon for the shower?

My bridesmaids are texting me like nuts this morning, they're really excited that they've found a place they think is both cool and pretty (and very reasonably priced) for the shower.

It's an (mostly) outdoor historical location (for you locals, you might remember Plymouth Plantation from your school field trip!) They put out a big New England buffet spread and it looks just lovely and it will be a cool way to introduce all the OOTs to the quintessential local New England we love so much.

But ... they were talking about October or November. Autumn is my favorite time of year and the foliage will be gorgeous at the Plantation then and they said it was their way of giving me the fall wedding I was unable to have (it's high-season at my venue). I am touched they're so thoughtful and I do love the fall ... but it would be six months before the wedding. Is this unheard of? Should I just let it go and let them host whatever they want?

It IS a little far in advance, but it's such a cool idea. I'd let them have fun with it :-)

I agree.  I don't see any harm in having a little bit early.

I've been there like a hundred times so... where exactly would they do the shower?  I didn't know they did events.  Is it in the visitor's center?  

I think that fall would be an amazing time because it's gorgeous there at that time of year.  Go for it- honestly, when else would you do it?  You don't want to do it during snow season, and then you don't want to do it just before the wedding because it'll be a lot going on.

I just looked at the website!  I think that's an amazing place for a shower!!  I see that they do it outside overlooking the bay or inside.

I;m having my shower Nov 4.  My grandmother goes to florida dec-april..  don't want her to miss it...  FI grandmother goes to virgina dec.  Don't want her to miss it.  Don't want the shower in feb-march due to could possibly snow...  Nov 4 it was.

I don't think its too early, I am having mine either October or November. That date just seemed to work out best for everyone else as well! Your shower venue looks wonderful!

I don't think it's too early. FI's best man is planning his bachelor party for this summer because he wants to be able to take FI out in a truck and get people to pay and throw stuff all over him, if he waits until closer to the wedding weather won't allow it.
