Changing my centerpieces... yet again

Ok, so my floral quote came in and its going to be $600, which was about $450 more than Im willing to spend. I originally was not going to have floral centerpieces, but then changed my mind. But after the sticker shock, I came to realize that this wedding will continue to get more expensive by the minute if I do not make some compromises. So, Im going back to square one.

Im going to be using these glass pieces which I still have from my first wedding. FI says they're elegant and has no problem using them again. The color scheme, location, and linens will all be different now, of course. And Instead of just the one centerpiece in the middle, I will have smaller square votives around it on the table. I will also have plate chargers which will help the tables feel more "full".

Thoughts? Suggestions?

  • I know the feeling! We are literally just collecting old looking stuff from yard sales and grouping them together with flowers and candles for a vintage - attic style theme. LOL. I hope mine doesn't look to hogwashy. LOL. I'd love flowers but I can't afford them.

  • I think that's a great idea especially since the colors and all will be different.

I'm not having flowers on my tables, either. They're so damn expensive and I just can't wrap my head around spending the money on something that's going to die a couple hours later.

  • I like those. Do you know about water beads? I think centerpieces with water beads and submersible LED lights look pretty. We are using True Touch flowers from Hobby Lobby. They look and feel real, and we are saving a butt load of money by using them, especially since they are often half off lol So we can put that money toward something else.

  • I think that will look very pretty. I found a picture the other day of centerpieces using similar glasses. I don't have it on my phone, but if I find it I will come back and share it.

  • Ok, found it. The glasses are more rounded than yours, but something like this might still work if you want them to look totally different. http://s1.hubimg.com/u/4672128_f520.jpg

The only reason Im not doing the submersibles and all that is because its a daytime wedding and lighting wont really matter that time of day. Im hoping, though, that they'll still give a bit of a romantic glow. Im just having to psych myself up to the idea.

  • I like it, especially if you add the candles around it.

  • I love that better than the flowers :)
  • I think its great!! I totally agree about sticker shock with flowers, my venue already includes some but for what i wanted the florist wuoted $2500 in addition to what is included/paid to the venue. So i made an extreme decision to make all the flowers out of coffee filters. Ive already cut about 1000 flowers worth of petals and need approx another 1500....sigh lol!!
