Got some "no"s back!

I posted yesterday about my parents just getting back from vacation and my Dad went and picked up the mail and found 17 more reply cards...well my Mom called me while she was opening them so that I could update my spreadsheet (I'm an excel addict)

We ended up getting a couple of "no"s and two of the three were semi-unexpected.

FI's grandmother's sister was invited with 2 guests. We gave her 2 guests so that she could ask one of her adult children (she has 6 "kids") to take her to the wedding and also bring their SO. She can't drive and certainly wouldn't be able to drive up to Maine for the wedding alone, so this was the best solution for us. She rsvp'd no....and FI is kind of sad about this because he had expected her to want to come.

I told FI that maybe her family was busy and none of them could go with her to the wedding, or maybe she thought "wow Maine is so far I'm not going!" (its only about an hour away, about 5 miles into Maine) but who knows, I think he was hoping for a note on the reply to say why she couldn't come...

Also, I posted a few weeks ago about my friend who was coming up to MA from NC and she was asking me to pretty much make her travel plans for her (find out train prices/taxi availability etc.) and she also asked if she could bring a guest. I said no because we really couldn't fit any more people on the list.

She wrote a note saying that:

"Since I can't bring a guest, the cost to travel by train, taxi etc, and the cost for the hotel is more than I can afford"

I'm almost glad that she said no because I really didn't want to have to deal with planning/checking in on her travel arrangements.

So as of now, we've gotten back 60% of our replies and hopefully more will come in this week since our rsvp date is March 31st!

I would feel irritated and relieved at the same time about the friend. I remember that original post lol

i remember your post about your friend coming from NC... i would probably be relieved also.

we have a week and a half left until our rsvp's are due and i don't think we've gotten half of them back yet..... *le sigh*

I'd love some more no's!!! We only have 5 and I was hoping for at least 10-15 because the church is TINY! However I im in the same boat as the bold...we made our RVSP date April 6th (Its a semi-destination wedding, so peopel should know if they can come or not that far out, and we have various things that need headcounts early, plus I am so busy I dont think I would have time to do a seatingchart etc if we left it till 2 or 3 weeks before) and we only have about half back! WHERE IS THE OTHER 50 peoples replies?!?!?!?

Same here - we still need to hear from 90 people (about 47 cards) and they have a week and a half left, but we've only been getting 1-2 day.  Comon people, what are you waiting for??

We almost received half of our responses, there is still 2.5 weeks before the RSVP date though...

Sorry to hear FI's grandma isn't going to make it.

And I'm not sure why not bringing a guest is going to change the travel cost, might save a little on a hotel room, but if someone was bring me as a guest to a wedding I wouldn't expect to pay for anything!

Yeah our RSVP date is April 1st and I havent heard from about 50 people. So 25 RSVPS have not been returned.
We plan to wait until Tuesday and then start contacting people and letting them know we have to know by April 6th.
Our caterer wants final Numbers a month ahead and our wedding is May 5th.

I too would be glad that your friend couldn't make it. As bad as that sounds, you've got enough things to worry about before your wedding and you don't need another thing to stress about. Especially when she is perfectly capable of making her own travel arrangements.

Our RSVP date is May 1st since we aren't getting married until the 26th and of the 226 people invited 86 are yes and 12 are no. I know the majority of the people are coming but they haven't made it official yet.
