Where do you recommend for alterations?

Hi Ladies! My wedding is at the end of March and I really need to find a place to get my dress altered (I believe I only need it taken in a bit but I'm not positive). Where do you recommend (preferably in the North Hills area) that is reasonably priced? And how does David's compare to other places?

Re: Where do you recommend for alterations?

  • I bought my dress from Michael's Bridal in the North Hills (off Perry hwy) and Yolanda is the owner and seamstress. She worked magic on my dress! I'm not sure what you consider reasonably priced. My dress was very detailed with a beaded bodice and I don't think the pricing for what I got was bad at all.

Truthfully I have no idea what is reasonable and what isn't. I got quoted a minimum of $300 from another shop and I find that kinda steep, but maybe I'm just clueless!
  • i also bought my dress at Michael's Bridal and would highly recommend Yolanda. i had my dress hemmed, bustled (an intricate one that went up under the dress so you couldnt see it), cups put in the bust, straps adjusted, and taken in a bit under the arms. she is amazing. i think i paid about $300 but not exactly sure. i have heard bad things about david's bridal alterations but didnt experience them myself. good luck!

<div>My dress has a fully beaded bodice, cups added, taken in and the neckline changed to a sweetheart - causing Yolanda to have to re-bead by hand and my alterations were $425. So I'd say $300 is about normal for a wedding dress to be taken in. </div>
  • I just found out that my friend's mom used to have her own business.  Even though she is officially out of the business now, she still does alterations on the side. She lives in the north hills. If you are interested you can PM me; she said it was OK to give her number out here.
