Wedding Dress Bee . . . Anyone know the original?

Hi Knot-ies! I was hoping someone out here might be able to either;

A) Tell me what the original of this dress might be so I can consider buying the designer
-or-
B) Suggest any similar desses for about $1,000-1,500

I'm in love with this dress! But, for what I think are obvious reasons, I'm nervous to buy a $400 dress from China. So now what? I found a local designer that said she could make the dress for $1,400 (I could also have the cost reduced by switching out some fabric if I choose). If the original is somewhere around $1,500, I would absolutley order that. I know this is my dress! I just need to figure out how to get it . . .

    I would not order from them. There are horror stories here galore. PLEASE don't set yourself up for disappointment. Brides think they're ordering the dress picutred on the site, but end up with a half-ashed sack of fabric that doesn't resemble the original, then the company is unreachable and the Bride is SOL.

    I'd go for a local vendor or at least a well known online with great reviews.

    <div>I think you're right! I just searched "Wedding Dress Bee" on the message boards. Again, I can't say I've read a specific instance where the dress turned our wrong (I did read one girl who experienced a shipping delay, but didn't comment on the quality), but TONS of hesitation . . . I think I'd rather not the be guinea pig that orders her wedding dress here.</div><div>
    </div><div>That being said, one of my bridesmaids sister had her wedding dress made and hated it. She didn't print a single picture. That doesn't really sway me (the nature of my design occupation and being an amateur seamstress, I feel I can better articulate what I want and understand the design + fabrication process), but it does make me think twice for a second.</div>
  • Assuming you won't take a chance on a knock-off, there are several gowns out there that resemble that one. It makes me think of a White by Vera Wang dress at DB. Here's the link: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Tulle-and-Organza-Fit-and-Flare-Gown-VW351166_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang The problem is that the dress is about $1500 without getting a floral belt. However, I also found a number of other similar styles that were at or under $1000: http://www.allurebridals.com/products/2550 http://www.allurebridals.com/products/2612 http://watters.com/Product/WtooBrides/17536/ http://www.morilee.com/Bridals/blu/5104 http://www.casablancabridal.com/collections/view/32/497#.UXmOa4y9KSM Hope this helps.

    Honestly, all of the knockoff sites are the same, pretty much.    And many of them, by different names, are actually the same company.  Even their websites look almost identical.

    There are lots of real horror stories about knockoff sites.  Read the FAQ at the top of this board and you'll see some links to some of the horror stories.

    <div>Thanks! Those are some great suggestions! I've actually stopped to gander at that Davids Bridal dress before. I especially love the second allure gown. I'm beginning to wonder if this wedding dress bee gown isn't a copy. Not that that makes me want to buy it, I just don't think I'm going to find the same dress under another designer . . .</div>
  • I don’t know why so many people rated WeddingDressBee so horribly. I ordered my wedding dress from there two months ago. I just received it two days ago, and it is absolutely perfect! I was very, very, VERY nervous about ordering my wedding dress online from a China distributor and not being able to try it on. And I also read the reviews from others, and the majority of them were less than complimentary. I would seriously wake up in the middle of the night so worried that my dress would be awful and I had made a huge mistake. But, the dress was just so perfect, and I loved it so much, so I figured I would take the risk and hope the dress was as perfect and beautiful as the pictures. I know I would always wonder about the dress had I not given WeddingDressBee a shot. When the package came, I was actually scared to open it. I just stared at it for a long time, praying that it would be perfect. But, it is absolutely beautiful! I sent in my custom measurements and also live chatted with a customer service rep from there named Shawn. He helped me with my measurements. The fit is pretty close to perfect! I will have to get it altered a bit for the train because it’s a little too long. But, that’s not a big deal at all. I would rather it be too long than too short. So, I can finally sleep soundly now and am absolutely 100% satisfied with my dress. I spoke with Shawn many times, and he was very attentive and professional to all my questions. I feel bad that so many people had bad experiences, and I don’t know why. I would definitely use WeddingDressBee again. And I can’t wait to wear my dress on my wedding day in three months!

    Do you have a picture of the dress you initially ordered and the dress you recieved?
  • This thread is over a year old and this person's first ever post (member since November 2013) is essentially a positive review of a knockoff site? It seem suspicious to me. I'm sorry if it's a legit experience, but you have to admit it's a little shady.

    Plus, zombie thread.

  • DAMNIT! didn't realize it was zombie. And I asked the question precisely because I thought it was super shady.
