Custom bridesmaid dresses online?

I have been seeing a lot of bridesmaid dresses online especially on etsy that I really like.  Most of them seem like they can be custom made to fit any size.  I like the look of the dresses linked below since they are all long but have a bit of a different top that should work well with many different body types.  I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a site or store that they have already used.  I am a bit weary of some of these sites since you can’t go try on beforehand you just have to trust that the quality will be as good as in the pictures.  Any advice is helpful.  Thank you!

  • What Liatris said.  In fact I was just in a wedding this past weekend and wore a Sophia Tolli dress that is extremely similar to the one on the far right.

I would not order from this seller.  There are a lot of grammar and spelling errors on their website.  Strike one.  Their return policy is shady.  If you read it, they basically say they can tell you no on a return if they deem it unnecessary.  Strike two.  This is obviously a shop based in China.  These kind of shops are not always known for their attention to detail.  Strike three.

$115.00+ for a dress I can't try on is not in my wheel house.  Especially for a light-weight fabric like chiffon that will show every imperfection.

Litaris is right.  Find a dress locally that everyone can try on.

  • Thank you!  I did notice the link I added here does mention China.  I just wanted to show this as an example. (Would never order from a foreign site unless it was tired and true)  Anyone know any legit etsy sites that they have used?  I would also like to have all bridesmaids try on their dresses in store however I am not sure if we will all be able to get together for this or have access to the same store, designer, etc.  2 bridesmaids live in Canada, 3 in California and I'm in NY.

[QUOTE]The Chinese knockoff vendors have discovered Etsy and Pinterest, and are posting there. To help ID a Chinese knockoff site. Look for misspelled words and bad grammar. Check their "about us" section.  See where their corporate headquarters is.  This is where they usually hide their real ID.  Most people don't bother to look at that. Check their Terms of Service.  If it mentions their corporate headquarters in a foreign country - STOP.  You are in a bad business site.  They MUST reveal this as part ot the contract between seller and buyer.  That's where you can usually catch them. Check their phone number, fax number and telex.  Google them and see where they originate.  Do the same for their email address and see where the server is.

I made your post over on A&A a sticky if you were wondering where it went.  I also included the info about knock-off sites from the FAQ sticky as well.  I think now that there is a sticky with the title of "Help to Identify Knock-Off Sites" it will help future brides find the information they need.

    Thanks!
