The "F" word

I know that this must sound CRAZY but I hate the word fianc, but words like intended, betrothed, husbandtobe don't seem to work either. Any suggestions on how to make introductions by title and get away from using the "f" word?

I really don't get the dislike of the word Fiance. It's exactly what he is and there is no confusion as to the relationship between you.

I absolutely loathed the word "fiance" when I was engaged ... like, I wanted to get married immediately after the proposal just so I could skip using it all together, lol. It's just such a ... stupid sounding word.

I got around it by being the socially awkward hot mess that I usually am. Usually, this entailed dryly referring to DH "the guy I'm marrying" when making introductions. Most people were amused by it, because the know my sense of humor (and my completely irrational hatred of completely innocuous words) ... so it worked.

I don't really know why. Maybe it's my age. But to echo the sentiments of RamonaFlowers, it just sounds silly to me for some reason. I mean it's a french and I'm not even sure of the literal translation.  This is not a knock to anyone who likes the word, for me it's just "Blech..." Don't like to be referred as it, nor refer to it. But I like "the snap to my crackle and pop." Lol.

The literal translation of "jewelry" in German is "schmuck". Just sayin'

YES! I'm also newly engaged and I hate using the word "fiance."

It reminds me of Seinfeld and "FIANCAAAAAY"

I love the term "bethroted" and I think it sounds classy

FI and I both hate the word and use it as sparingly as possible. Luckily I meet very few new people and he works at a small school so when I meet someone for the first time I am introduced by name and they proceed to ask about the wedding because they already know.

We call each other FI in private as a cutesy pet name but we almost sound like it is braggy and pretentious. We are also in our VERY early 20's so it might be our age. Husband is going to be so much nicer to say!

I didn't like saying "fiance" either. I didn't really like saying "boyfriend" when H was my boyfriend either. I mostly just intorduced him by name. Neither of us are fans of titles of any sort, really.

We do refer to eachother as  "fiance" and "fiancee" but, in a less formal setting, I will call him my pre-husband! Yes....he was once a pre-pre-husband! Im such a dork!

I, too, dislike fiance/fiancee --and like a PP, I think it's because of that Seinfeld episode. I still call him my boyfriend (got engaged 3 weeks ago).
On a side note, I also hate the words moist and chuckle. I have no idea why!
