Carnegie Museums as venue?

Has anyone ever used any of the Carnegie Museums as a venue for their reception? I like the concept and they offer wedding packages- but I didn't see many photos for how it actually looks set up.

Does anyone have any experience with them?

Still looking for a somewhat unique venue that could do around 100- 120 people (had been looking at the Morning Glory Inn but read some bad reviews).

I'd love any comments or info, thanks girls!

    Hi!! I'm having my May 28, 2011 wedding at the Music Hall Foyer in the Carnegie Museum of Art & Nat. History! It is GORGEOUS and I have had the best experience so far - PM me if you want more info!!

    Also, their website does not provide many pictures, but you can find tons of pictures on various photographers' blogs! GL and let me know if I can be of any help!

    My college had a semi-formal event in the Carnegie Music hall foyer, and it's gorgeous.  my only concern for you is that it's a big space - like for 400 people or so - and I think 100-120 people would be too little in the space.

    The aviary and the zoo/aquarium also have cool spaces and would be great for a group your size (and are relatively affordable).

    I almost booked at the Carnegie Science Center. Their space in the movie theater foyer has really beautiful views!
    You can also do the Warhol, and I think various spaces in their Natural History Museum. I think they changed the space availability last year though, so my info might be old.

    I also really liked the Children's Museum space, and you can add different rooms that have some interactive things to do for your guests.

    I had my wedding at the Aviary for 100+ people. We had all the exhibit spaces open and a penguin, owl and macaw at the cocktail hour.

    We were between the Aviary and the Children's Museum, but ultimately chose the Aviary. You can find information about Children's Museum rentals here: http://www.pittsburghkids.org/Templates/CMP_Level3_List.aspx?CID=785&SECID=2&MENUID=315 and Aviary rentals here: http://www.aviary.org/vis/package.phpI haven't been able to find much in the way of wedding pics at the Aviary other than a blog post by Mocha Rose, but you can find several photographer blogs for the Children's Museum and Mattress Factory. The Children's Museum also has their own photos posted through that website above.

    In addition to the other options mentioned above, there's also the Mattress Factory (although I think they have a max of 100 people which is why we didn't look into them further) and the New Hazlett Theater, which seemed like a very cool space but also seemed more in line with a cocktail like reception than a sit down dinner and had a requirement that you get your alcohol through them and have a performance (band, harpist, acrobat, whatever) as part of their liquor license. Still, the space looked beautiful (Google New Hazlett Theater wedding for several photo sites) and contemporary.

    Finally, we went to a wedding at the Heinz History Center a couple of years ago that was phenomenal, with the cocktail hour downstairs in their cool brick lobby with firetrucks and a trolley to play in and the dinner upstairs in a ballroom. Their prices are more in line with the Carnegie museums and the Warhol.

    I just remembered this, Pitt had it's Greek Week Formal there my senior year. It was gorgeous and we had a great time, but I agree that 120 people will get lost.

    I am having my wedding at the Music Hall and I only have around 100 to 120 guests. I love the place too much not to have it there, and when I talked to them they said that while they can accommodate up to 400, they have definitely done weddings of around 100 with no problem. They just position tables and chairs strategically and place no more than 8 people at a table (which is what I want anyways). And everything will be inside the pillars for my wedding with plenty of space in the middle for my dance floor :-)
