Honeymoons

Where is everyone going for their honeymoon? Of course my fiancé and I decide on Jamaica right smack dab in hurricane season.(didnt even notice until travel company called to inform us)Thank goodness for insurance but I'm just wondering is anyone else going to the Caribbean for their honeymoon during hurricane season?

We're going to the Mayan Riveria for our honeymoon. I can't wait!!

Everyone I've spoken to has said yeah, it's hurricane season ... but the odds of actually GETTING a hurricane are low. They don't generally make landfall in the area, even during the season. We may get rain for a few minutes some days, but that happens in the tropics. We got trip insurance that'll let us cancel if a hurricane is imminent, but honestly I am not stressing about it.

We're going to Hawaii (Oahu and Maui) for our honeymoon. We considered the Caribbean, but we just went to the Bahamas last summer and didn't want to risk the hurricanes. We've never been to Hawaii, so we're really excited!

We are going to Vietnam, Cambodia, & Thailand for a month. While we are there it will be rainy season. The bonus of going during off season is things tend to be cheaper & areas will be less crowded.

Is it bad to say I am looking forward to the Honeymoon more than the actual wedding?? lol

We are going to the Carribean too! Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We've been to Jamiaca twice during hurricane season and never had an issue. Actually I generally travel there in off season just because of the pricing. I'm watching closely this year since they are predicting a pretty active season but I'm hoping we'll be ok.

We're going to the Riviera Maya, Mexico for our honeymoon. We figured most hurricanes tend to no make landfall in that region very often. Most hurricanes seem to turn before they get past Texas but just in case we got insurance. We really can't wait!!!

We're going to Montego Bay, I absolutely loved the DR. We went valentines da last year and it was alotof fun, beautiful weather, and an absolutely beautiful location!

That's so great to hear! IT was one of the few places that we haven't been that was decently priced. You'll love Jamiaca too. We had such a great time there and the people are always just fantastic.

We're going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. I wanted adventure. He wanted an all inclusive resort on a beach. Best of both worlds. We're staying in a "jungle resort" for the first 3 days where I'll get my fill of zip lining, white water rafting, hiking on a volcano, etc and then we'll hit the beach resort for the remaining 6 days. I'll admit, I was a little worried about hurricane season so I steered away from the Caribbean, but like everyone said, the odds are very slim. I am sure everyone will have an AMAZING time wherever their travels take them!

We're going to Lake Tahoe. We'll get to play on the lake and go hiking. We like doing outdoorsy activities. Plus they have casinos with night clubs and all that type of stuff if we want to dress up and do something like that. I've never been and can't wait!

we're doing a 7 day Alaskan Cruise. We had considered Cabo, Cancun and the Caribbean, but decided because of logistics, an Alaskan Cruise worked well for us.

@futuremrsdaniel824 - Nice choice on the hotel! We stayed at the Excellence in Riviera Maya and loved it! We are staying at The Sanctuary on Cap Cana.

@moniqueabrahmsen - awww Tahoe! That's where we met and got engaged. It's a beautiful place. I'm not sure if you are from the area but if not check out The Beacon bar and grill, great beach front restaurant for the summer time. We also like the Sage Room inside Harvey's for a nice steak dinner. Enjoy Tahoe, we'll be right down the way in Sac getting married

@xxstardust- We're staying at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. My sister has stayed at their Dreams brand and loved it and it came highly recommended by our travel agent. We can't wait!

We're also going to Jamaica! Yea I was kinda hesitate on booking since it is hurricane season but we've never been there and we got a really good deal staying at one of the Sandel Resorts. I'm sure it will be fine for us

We are going to Playa Mujeres by the the Riveria Mayan in Mexico. I cant wait! We went to the Bahamas 2 years ago when we first started dating and stayed at the Atlantis resort off season so it wasn't any crowds. That was beautiful but wanted to go somewhere different this time.

All of my friends that got married went to the caribbean during hurricane season & no one ever experienced one! So hopefully you won't either! I would still suggest travel insurance just to be sure though.

I wanted to go to someplace warm & sunny, but my FI hates the beach and loves cold & rainy, so we chose Ireland for our honeymoon! August is the warmest & sunniest month there so we both compromised. We are planning to rent a car and drive around the countryside for a week. I can't wait! :-)

Talking about the honeymoon is making me all excited now! I've been so focused on all my little projects that I feel like I'm not that excited yet about the actual wedding. I think as soon as I get these invites out today (finally, I lag) I will be able to do fun stuff like look at excursions!
