Mystic Yachting Center

Has anyone been to a wedding at the Mystic Yachting Center? I am looking at it as a potential wedding venue for my Sept 2014 wedding. It looks gorgeous and has a low building rental cost. Any help would be great!

I have not been to a wedding there. I did have my wedding at Mystic Aquarium, which has the same catering staff. I had more than a few issues with them, so I would try to avoid them unless you really really really love the venue. You can check my married bio for reviews.

What specific issues did you have with them? I can't seem to find your vendor reviews. I'm new to the knot and have trouble navigating their site. I have been e-mailing back and forth with Katie after playing phone tag with Kathy for awhile. I have a crazy work schedule so it was hard me to communicate with her via phone. So far they have answered all my questions. Their prices seem decent and their menu looks delicious. Let me know your opinion.

I had a lot of trouble communicating with the director, Kathy. The day of, they set up the tables wrong so my H's family was in the very back of the room, and at least one table had a missing chair. We never got water pitchers on the table, even though it was written in our order, and they cleared off drinks too early. Plus I had a few people tell me their food was cold (and these were people who got food right away, not at the end of the buffet). Just lots of little things that did not ruin the night, but bothered me a week after the wedding. If you can stay on tip of them or have a day of coordinator to make sure everything is done right, I'm sure you'd be great!

Hey, another great venue in that area is the Mystic Arts Center. Beautiful and totally affordable. They also have a back up plan in case it rains. Email Gretchen! She's great. We ultimately went with a different venue but I did love this option.

The lady Katie. I've been talking to from Ocean Blue Catering has been wonderful so far. I'm so ocd about things being set up I would probably check out all the tables before it started so I could make sure everything is in order. I'll be setting up my own centerpieces etc so I know everything is how I want it. 

I didn't like how the Mystic Arts Center was set up with so many different rooms so that turned me off from there.

kind of off topic, but do KC do you happen to remember how much the ceremony fee is at the arts center? we're looking for a place for the ceremony thats close to the reception site.

It's 3200 for a week day and 3600 for a Saturday at the Mystic Arts Center. They provide plastic chairs which we were planning to use for the ceremony. They also have a projector-- we were thinking of making a slide show.
