Ok so im completely lost.

My wedding is in June 2014 and I already have my venue booked... Heres the problem.  My Flowers are blue dendrobium Orchids and Calla Lilys. ( Fell in Love) but my main color is turquoise. The place I am having my wedding does not have any linens in the turquoise color so i have to rent my own sashes and napkins(if I want colored napkins)  Im trying to find a cheap way to decorate and design my tables to be mostly turquoise but have a little bit of that purple color accent thats in the flowers. I was just going to stick with white linens with the turquoise sashes and maybe a runner.  I dont have a  whole lot of money to spend on rentals.  Any ideas???

Google "Turquoise and purple centerpieces" and you'll get a ton of options from other turquoise and purple weddings. It's a pretty common color combination.

If you see any pictures you like and are curious about how to acquire the materials, just post the pics here and someone will help.

  • What about just using ivory/white linens and napkins and finding/making turquoise/purple napkin rings or favors to put on the plate? Personally, an entire turquoise tablecloth might seem overwhelming. I've also heard from plenty of brides that chair sashes are a giant waste, and it might open up your budget more to skip them.

She's right. Also, this may not matter to you, but blue is the most unappetizing color. I'd stick with white tablecloths and add touches of turquoise like lisabeats suggested.

  • Because of my flowers I want to inquire a little bit of purple so I was talking to my mom today and what about all white linens turquoise sashes and then purple and turquoise rhinestone napkin rings.  Then for my center peices I have vases with blue n purple beta fish with maybe a turquoise silk under the mirrors??? Yes or no?
  • and I found where i can get like 150 sashes for around $100 so its not as high priced as i thought

I really suggest staying away from beta fish. Do a search on here and see what others have to say about them. They are living creatures... but not always living by the end of the night. It could end up messy and unwillingly cruel.

Otherwise, I think your vases sound great. Just do some floating (colored) flowers or candles and it will be great. I think you'll like the look of the white linens and accented napkin rings a lot better, so good choice.

    Edit: Spelling
  • Please don't abuse living things by using them as decorations for your wedding.

  • Sashes look really nice until everyone sits down. The majority of them will be down around the seat of the chair way before the end of the night.

Turquoise and purple are really pretty colors, but they're both very bold…I definitely second the idea to do a google image search and see what others have done. Two much of either will be overwhelming!

And to reiterate what others have said, keep the fish at home…floating flowers are a beautiful (and animal friendly!) alternative! You'll also save a bunch of money that you'd spend on floral centerpieces. Keep in mind that when you have a mirror in the middle of the table (great idea, by the way!) it makes everything look bigger…if you do have the vase with floating flowers, try adding a bunch of votive candles to each table for a really romantic look.
  • The only reason I thought of the beta fish is because I have a blue and purple beta and hes gorgeous and ive had him for at least two years he gave me the color idea for my wedding.. My sister is an exotic animal expert and knows everything about them.... and they would have gone home with a guest as a favor... But the more I looked at centerpeices I like the vases with the blue orchids in them more...
  • I think the orchids will be a great alternative.

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse because it seems you've moved on (yay!), but many guests won't want to bring a fish home as a gift. What if they want to go to a bar/restaurant after? What if they traveled from out of town? What if they just don't want a pet? There are just a lot of negatives and very few positives to the idea, so I encourage you to keep exploring other options. I think the orchids will be a great choice.
