Cocktail hour and reception, same venue?

Re: Cocktail hour and reception, same venue?

  • I don't think anyone here is saying that literally every single person will be sitting in a chair at one time.

You could PROBABLY get away with seating for 90%... but why would you do that?  Why wouldn't you just put 100% chairs out there and give everyone the OPTION of sitting.

We've all had to stand like that, but no one likes it.  As a hostess, I'd like to not just host a reception where my guests will SURVIVE, but one that they will truly enjoy and be comfortable.  If that's the goal, why wouldn't you provide seating for everyone?  I just don't get it...

  • Note to self: show up early to this girl's wedding!  Gotta get my butt a chair!  I am 24 and have had an ACL replacement surgery on both knees, and so has FI.  We aren't even sure we can kneel in our Catholic ceremony for that long, let alone have to fight others for seating if we happen to be sore that day.  I don't think one butt=one chair exactly is necessary, but there should be very nearly enough seats, maybe enough chairs for 3/4 of your guests at minimum, if you're so worried about how much space a stupid chair will take up.
