Guestbook instructions?

We are using a coffee table book with pictures from our state for guests to sign in lieu of a guestbook. Do you think I need to put a sign notifying that in lieu of a guestbook please sign this coffee table book or do I just leave it out with pens and assume people will figure it out on their own?

Put some pens by it and have your wedding party sign it beforehand. People will get the idea.

Ditto - if you put this in a high traffic area (say, on the way to the bar) it makes it even more likely people will stop and sign.
