    I have a friend of ours who is a Public Notary here in FL (she would be eligible to perform our ceremony in FL...and it would be LEGAL & VALID), however, we are getting married in Asheville, NC (Buncombe County). After much research on BOTH websites (Universal Life Church & American Marriage Ministries), she did obtain BOTH "ordinations"....

    However, as everyone has stated, YES, I did contact the Licensing office and even went so far as to contact the Legislative department of NC regarding the online ordinations....in the statutes, the ordination from ULC is NOT valid on marriages performed after 7/3/1981.....so, that is why it is a GOOD thing to research and speak directly to someone....

    If anyone else has gotten married in NC, please share your thoughts as well.  Thanks!
