I just watched the most disturbing movie ever!

I LOVE horror movies, the scarier the better. Psychological thrillers are great too! But... I watched this movie on netflix called Meghan is Missing. Holy shit! This movie made me want to shut down all my online accounts and I actually had my BF come spend the night with me after I watched it. None of you are crazy online stalkers...right? Lol, JK! Anyways, this movie actually made me sick to my stomach.

Any great/terrible horror movies you have seen? Or how about any movies that you like in general? I'm just working on homework right now and this is going to be a part of my break :-)

Re: I just watched the most disturbing movie ever!

  • I'm the world's biggest wuss where horror movies are concerned, so I don't have any recommendations. I usually watch comedies on Netflix - I did "Colin and Brad: Two Man Group" recently. It was Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from Whose Line is It Anyway? doing improv sketches.

That sounds funny! BF loves funny things, so that should be one of the ones we watch :-) Have you ever seen Gabriele Iglesias stand up comedy (sorry if this is spelt wrong)?

I love horror movies but they also tend to scare the shit of me. I like to play a game with Netflix where I try to find a scary movie I can watch by myself and still be able to get some sleep at night - I usually lose this game :)

I haven't seen a really good scary movie in awhile though. When it comes to scary movies I mostly like zombie movies (which I never really think are that scary). But I do not like The Walking Dead - too much soap opera, not enough zombies!

Personally, I always enjoy some classic horror movies (like Carrie or Friday the 13th). Yeah they are cheesy and not all that scary but I still find them entertaining! Also The Bad Seed! That is such a good movie! If you haven't seen it go watch it, it's great!

  • I LOVE scary movies and now I really want to check this one out!

H and I went and saw 'You're Next' a couple weekends ago and we both liked it. I like anything that'll make me jump basically and I definitely jumped a few times during that. There was a twist but we both figured it out about half way through the movie.

My mom and I watched some movie on-demand a few years ago about a serial killer and that's the one movie I remember really freaking me out and I had a hard time sleeping afterwards.

I like the more realistic ones vs anything else and I hate anything that's not rated R. The PG-13 scary movies always suck.

  • I can't watch scary movies anymore, I get so paranoid afterwards and some pretty bad nightmares. I'm such a wuss.

I think one of the last scary movies I saw in theaters was one of the Saw movies and after that I was done.

My favorite kind of movie is one that just surprises the crap out of me at the end. I hate predictable movies. I love mystery films like Sherlock Holmes and we saw Now you See Me a couple months ago and that was pretty good.
  • I used to love horror movies and psychological thrillers and whatnot! But then I turned 18 and all of a sudden I could not tolerate them anymore, they freaked me out too much. I'm still wondering what happened.

Despite this, my family/friends have convinced me to watch a few since then, and they have all scared the living shit out of me! Let's see:
-Psycho - always a classic. I still check for Norman Bates periodically whenever taking a shower.
-Quarantine - saw that gem in theaters when it came out. Not necessarily scary, but a lot of gore and jumping out of your seat in surprise. My friend and I spent the whole night kicking each other in the face because of all the startle reactions we had. Basically a bad zombie movie.
-The Orphan - Omigod. I swore for longest time that I would never adopt anything after watching this movie. (I think this mother-baby class has totally changed my mind on that, but that's beside the point.) But this one was actually really good - great story and lots of twists and turns that you wouldn't expect.

My taste in movies is all over the place. I either like raunchy comedies, family movies, or anything with a historical/adventurous theme. And occasionally I get into futuristic, apocolyptic stuff like The Hunger Games movie version and so forth.

And no, I am not a crazy online stalker, lol. You are safe from me.
  • Ok I'm the biggest wuss when it comes to scary movies - the scariest movie I will watch is the Sixth Sense (and by watch, I mean listen to from behind my hands at ceratin scenes).

psychbabe314 I just read the plot summary of that movie and that is totally f-ed up!!  Just reading that made my stomach squirm.  Gross.

  • i like killer-thriller type movies. psychological thrillers terrify me - there is nothing scarier, in my opinion, than going crazy. anything that messes with your head is a big no-go!
  • @psychbabe314, Gabriel Iglesias isn't my cup of tea, but where stand-up is concerned, I love Ben Bailey. He had a special that was on Netflix for a while, might still be. Look it up, I laughed so hard tears ran down my cheeks.
  • As soon as I saw the title of your post, I said it has to be Meagan is Missing or The Loved Ones. MiM stuck with me for weeks after I watched it. The scene where she sees Meagan's head in the barrel with that thing in her mouth and then the end where there is just like ten minutes of muffled screams and digging...one of the most disturbing films ever.

I will have to look into Ben Bailey :-)
  • He hosted Cash Cab in the US if the name rings a bell.
  • Nope, it doesn't. But I will let you know if  maybe I recognize him :-)

@bethsmiles I will have to look up the bad seed. I just watched a trailer for it and it made me laugh, it really is kind of an old movie then?

@southernpeach89 I just watched Now You See Me with my mom yesterday. It was really good! I am going to rent it with my BF soon. Or maybe have some friends over and turn it into a movie night for everyone!

@Amapola14 I am glad your not a crazy online stalker :-) Also, I loved the orphan! It was sooo creepy!

@KateJ16 now you know what I mean. It is a truly disturbing movie.

@myrinae I know! It made me jump. The movie is just so grotesque... What is the loved ones about

Also, anyone else like Guillermo Del Toro?
  • @psychbabe314 - Yeah, The Bad Seed is an old black and white movie. I don't know if they've done a re-make of it but you should definitely watch the original.

  • @bethsmiles I will have to see if the video store here has it :-)
