Misshart00 - Why is she banned?

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

Re: Misshart00 - Why is she banned?

  • Good question. It says she was last active less than 15 minutes ago. She commented on several posts less than a few hours ago. There is nothing in those posts that comes even close to an offense worthy of banning. However, Misshart did post on a lengthy thread regarding "civil weddings" /PPD in which the originally rational poster morphed into an entitled princess in quick time. I sure hope this isn't another case of secret/covert/fictitious PM's. And the yet again coincidental timing of a Friday-no-response-until-Monday glitch is really getting old.

I am SO confused. Clarity: by TKs actions here. MissHart00 was great.
  • Seriously. I've never seen MissHart do anything to warrant bannation.  She is straightforward, but not mean. I, too, would like an explanation.  Secret mods?
  • This is fucked up.

  • It must be housekeeping/cleaning weekend again. Hold on tight!

"1) I mentioned this somewhere previously, but, members will continue to receive warnings that will add up to bans moving forward. The situation last week was a very unique situation, as outlined, so please - understand that "normal" procedures will be followed."

So is "unique" the new normal now?
  • I have a feeling it's a mistake.

When we were mods, another mod got banned by a different mod as a total accident. It wasn't that hard to do....but we'll see I guess.

Do the secret mods have the ability to ban community members?

  • This is really messed up. Guess the "normal procedure" is to ban people for no reason and with  no warning.

  • There is absolutely NO justification for it to take this long for an answer.

    None.

Mods, delete my account. I want nothing to do with this bullshit website any longer.

Well, they don't work on the weekend so I believe that explains the time passage with no answer.

Then shame on The Knot for being so abysmally stupid that they believe they can operate a high-traffic website and forum with "customer service" available only during business hours.

The amount of stupid being exposed by these recent situations is pretty staggering.

This is super ridiculous. I don't expect them to work 7 days a week or be on call 24/7...
But at least have someone available a few hours a day on the weekends. It's just plain common sense. They're trying to run a business that's open to the public 7 days a week, then you need to have people working for that business 7 days a week.

Can you imagine if 7/11 decided to just not have workers on Saturdays and Sundays? Like, for real?

  • The forums do not generate income for TK. They are an added bonus.

So, no, I don't expect them to have someone available on the weekend. It's hard to compare an online forum to a 24 hour a day convenience store. I don't really get that.

It did work just fine when there were mods on the boards already during the off hours, but we know that's gone... so let's just let them have a moment to respond. Hopefully that moment is soon.

The boards generate page views which help generate ad revenue in most cases so I would think the boards do bring in a good chunk of change, but I could be wrong.

That is incorrect. That is not how TK generates revenue. They've discussed it a number of times on here. It has nothing to do with traffic or views anymore.

  • Thank you for pointing this out. She should have full access now.

Her account was mistakenly included in an IP ban for a spammer.
  • Huzzah!! (for your return)

  • Hi @misshart00 I apologize for the long wait. Our system showed your account logged in on an IP that was added to our ban list over 2 months ago. It was an automatic ban from our system.

We do not have any moderators on the boards right now. We're still working on our new reporting system.

Can't get out of the box.

So, if it was just an autoban from 2 months ago, how did my IP get on the list?  I wasn't a spammer then.  I had no AEs that were banned or spamming.  Where did my IP address come from?  Was it just another glitch in your system?

Edit: And now I'm just curious, it takes your system two months to autoban a spammer?

  • I'm not sure why your account showed up logged in on the banned IP last Friday, that is something I will have to check on...

The IP was added to our list 2 months ago and automatically bans any account that uses it moving forward.
  • Weird that she's been able to use her account for the last 2 months.

  • Huzzah, @misshart00! So glad to see you back!

Oh, and @knotporscha, if what you're saying is true, seems like a good-ish reason to reconsider IP bans.
