My FI and I have two registries totaling for about 200 various items in various price ranges. We have been told by others that we should be adding more to the registry. The only thing is - there isn't anything else that we want to add to the registry...we have our plates, wine glasses, towels, kitchen appliances, cutlery, bedding, door knobs, tools for FI, etc. that we want. Anything else we add is going to end up stored in the basement for the next yard sale since it would just be added to the registry for the sake of being told we needed to add more. That just seems very wasteful to me. In addition, we are being told that we don't have enough on our registry - but the majority of the items have not been purchased yet. Any thoughts on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated?
Breakdown of Registry:
$1-$25 Range - 46%
$26 - $50 Range - 36%
$51 - $100 Range - 9%
$100 and Above Range - 9%
Re: Adding to Registry
Agree with the others that you are in OK shape for a 40 person shower but if you can think of things to add (that you really want or wouldn't mind as a splurge) in the higher price range it might help for people that want to spend more/group together.
All of our $100+ items were the fastest to go. Upgrades on vacuum, garbage can and coffee maker. And splurge items: kitchen aid mixer, Hoover floormate to wash hardwood floors, nice air mattress, espresso machine.
We also looked closely at what organizational tools could help us in the house and added those: shoe racks, towel racks, towel ring, over the door pantry rack, drawer dividers, storage bench.
Me while PP figures out how to read almost every thread on this board:
Oh, and your guests already had the option of contributing to your "fund." It's called cash. Cash is currency that is good for lots of stuff. A lot of people give it at weddings without you holding a cardboard sign saying that you're an out of work veteran.
