Bras for under wedding dress

I'm having trouble finding a bra that doesn't show through my dress. The dress is a flat front satin, so any seams in a long line show, as does the white color. I know nude is recommended but that seems like a very unsexy option. Would it be better to just get a strapless bra? Or have something sewn into my dress?

  • I got cups sewn into my dress.

  • I'm convinced nothing is made to be sexy when it comes to wedding dresses. It's made to be on your body, not move and not be able to breathe/ sit. Don't worry about something sexy for the FI as you can change into something, or just him releasing you from the trap of a dress should be enough seeing as your now his wife! woohoo!!! That being said, I have a strapless ballgown that I am wearing a strapless corset under and a HUGE poofy skirt thing under as well. They gave me this stuff to try on dresses then when we figured out which one I wanted I asked what would work well underneath the dress and they gave me a different skirt that poofs it out more and said the corset I already had. We just bought them both right there. The corset was actually really comfy and I could breath. It was tight, held me all in (and the girls) and will work perfectly.

  • This is a question for your seamstress.  They should be able to give you the best option that will work for both the style of your dress as well as to hold you up and in place.  If you aren't super chesty then having cups sewn into the dress may be a good option.

Also, forget about an sexy options.  You need good construction that will do what it is supposed to do as well as something that is comfortable to wear for 8+ hours.  If you want to wear something sexy for your FI at the end of the night then change into something once back in your room.
This is right. If it makes you feel any better, I just lost 25 pounds for my wedding this upcoming weekend and yet I still need to wear 1. butt padding, 2. spanx, 3. cups sewn into my dress. NONE of this is sexy! I plan to change into something sexy later on that night, but have given up on planning anything spectacular under the dress. FI will have no idea either way. The spanx hide the lines that the butt-padding creates on me, so even if you are a skinny girl, they might help your bra cup situation. good luck!
  • I want to know more about this butt padding.

  • But where do you get it? Is it a panty with some enhancement? LOL.

  • I'm having cups sewn in to my dress. For extra push up, I've even heard of medical taping your boobs!! As in underneath pushing them together! Pain is beauty? =)

Yes, they do have undergarments like this.  I think you can buy them at department stores like Macy's, Nordstrom, etc.

  • I recommend a skin toned "seamless" bra that is lined with gel-like stuff that stick to you so it doesn't go out of place.  I also agree with some of the PPs about forgetting the sexy part.  Buy something else to put on for your groom once you get out of your dress.

  • Ugh, I feel your pain. I really really wanted to wear something sexy under my wedding gown but I swear it's impossible! If it's sexy, it's not supportive and/or see through. My FI made me promise to not wear spanx, so I got a very thin nude thong and a nude push up padded bra (not matching). It's my compromise. I did buy something cute for our wedding night/honeymoon. He'll have to be happy with that.
  • I forgot to add, definitely go to Nordstrom's or a higher end dept store, they will not only measure you but point you int the right direction if you have a picture of your dress. If you can, ask your seamstress what they personally recommend.
