We are holding our summer 2014 at Awbury Arboretum...I think. We won't see it until the end of the month....we live in Philadelphia. However, they are a stand out favorite. We will be visiting Philly the last weekend of October and again for thanksgiving, and would love to have a date and most of our vendors ironed out by then for a Juneish wedding.
We are having a hell of a time finding a caterer. Our vision is similar to a menu that we found from Day by Day caterers:
Grilled Shrimp Kabobs? Chicken with Mango Salsa? Grilled Seasonal Vegetables? YUMMMM
However, we still haven't heard back from them. Yes, it's a busy time of year, and yes, it might just be a fluke, but it's been almost two weeks. I'm concerned that any vendor that is not returning emails for 10 days might not be someone that I want to work with.
That being said:
1. Any experience with Day by Day? I understand that over a weekend, they might be too busy, but is 10 days normal? I mean, c'mon, I'm trying to give you a few thousand dollars!
2. Any recommendations for caterers that would allow us to bring our own cake and alcohol, that are inexpensive. Anything over $50-80 a person, considering that we just need food and staff, and everything else is provided by us or the arboretum. We're not sure if we want stations, buffet, or plated (unlikely), but we would not want butlered hor dourves, just stationed cocktail hour munchies and dinner. We're looking for casual backyard BBQ with a more fresh grilled gourmet vibe than burgers or ribs.
