Weekend updates!

How are ya'll doing? My weekend was pretty good. We had BF's birthday party on Saturday and everybody had a lot of fun. We carved pumpkins and OMG HIS MOM'S CLAM CHOWDER! Homemade spiced cider too and black forest cake. It was all so yummy.

Yesterday was spent in major cleaning mode. We tore through his bedroom and actually accomplished a lot (even he thinks so now!) However, we were driving to get new tires on his car so I was following him in my car and suddenly, he started braking a ton, swerving to the right, etc. We pulled over and I guess a bunch of hatched spiders had come through his window and gotten all over him! Made him shower immediately once we got home and I wouldn't ride in his car all weekend after that. EEK SPIDERS.

Back to the daily grind today. Still hate my new boss. However, the wedding mag is going to be heating up again soon for the next issue so I'll be working on that on top of my newspaper work so I'm totally ok with that.

Re: Weekend updates!

  • Yay for the food and cleaning, boo for the spiders.

I knitted and knitted and knitted ... I think I'm about 2/3 of the way done with the Doctor Who scarf. Also, my fantasy football team kicked serious ass this weekend (highest points total in my league, and I more than doubled my opponent's score). Otherwise the weekend was quiet; BF had gaming with a friend of his and my best friend by Skype, and then we went over to his DM's house for the other game he's in (I think he's in a total of 3 parties right now) for board games (him) and knitting around other people (me). They played 7 Wonders - that one actually looks good, I might have to get a copy.
  • Oh my god, I would have died if spiders came out of the car at me like that. ::shudder::

I worked. A lot. So that was kinda shitty. I had one of those new Pretzel Pub Chicken sandwiches from Wendy's on Sunday that was pretty awesome, and the Packers won - hooray! Nothing else terribly exciting happened.

This week I am hoping to get results on important experiment, so fingers crossed it works out.

Next weekend is our two year anniversary (well technically it is the 22nd, but its hard to celebrate on a Tuesday). . . .  we don't have plans yet. I kinda want to go apple picking and to Fright Fest, but I need to take into account what DH might like to do (neither of those are his favorites).

Oh my gosh! I don't know what I would have done if spiders hatched in my car...I can't believe it. It's good that he pulled over safely though.

My weekend was good but also really sad at the same time. One of my friends from college passed away this weekend from an extremely tragic event that happened in our college town. I've had a difficult time settling with it but God heals broken hearts so leaning on Him has helped.

Besides that, my mother found her MOB dress which is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I had a link to show y'all but I can't seem to find one. FI and I also got our marriage license so we are really excited to have that in our hands...it makes it so surreal lol.

ETA: spelling and we also finalized flowers and decorations with our florist so I'm glad that's done.
  • This weekend went by way too fast for me! I want a re-do.

Friday, BF's mom had surgery so we were at the hospital 5:30 am for that. We were home by 10-ish and she pretty much stayed in bed all day while the meds wore off.

Saturday she went on a binge of SYTTD and told me that I would look good in certain dresses if I lost some weight...

Saturday we saw our neighbor purposely run over her kid's Razor scooter

Sunday BF went over to the neighbor's house to play Xbox/watch football. I kept BF's mom entertained but she still watched SYTTD (swear to god I think she watched every episode).

Is it scary to say that I'm glad to be back at work today???

I was thinking about you this weekend. It looks like DH and I will be back in AZ for our 2nd anniversary (or, like you said, celebrating the weekend before it), so we'll get to take a picture at the actual place we got married. I've always been jealous of your sig pictures and am glad we'll get to take one of those this year.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • @KeptInStitches, my sister is working on the Doctor Who scarf! I give her serious credit. I'm much too slow a knitter to even attempt it! I did get to work on the scarf I'm working on a bit on Friday while I was waiting for BF to finish some work.

cschiano, congrats on your 2 year!

I'm so sorry @southernpeach89. Glad about the MOB dress though! Those always seem tough to find. My mom had a heck of a time finding the right one for my sister's wedding.

@buddysmom80, You'll look great in whatever dress you choose! You'll find one you're comfy in.

  • Hey guys!

I had a good, busy, productive-ish weekend. On Thursday night I made my first Etsy sale (yay!) - just for a sample but hopefully the couple will want to place a full invitation order soon. I didn't have time to send out the sample on Friday since the kid I babysit for was home sick so I had to be with her all day. Saturday morning BF went and printed the sample, and bought packaging supplies, and then shipped it off. That night we went to an awesome restaurant in Irvington, about 20 minutes away. I drank delicious apple sangria and sat outside overlooking the Hudson River.

Yesterday we went into the city to return a printer and then we drove to a computer store near home and bought another $400+ printer. This one produces great quality prints BUT it curls the paper since it does not have a straight-through paper feed. So, we'll probably need to return this printer and try a THIRD one. We got ice cream for dinner last night and watched Homeland and Masters of Sex.

Now, it's time for a nap since I had to babysit from 7:15-10:15 this morning!

  • @southernpeach89, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. :(

@kait, just yikes on the spider babies. I was pretty freaked out by the centipede I found in my house this morning, but at least there was only one of him, and he wasn't ON me!

@buddysmom80, yikes. Safe to say your BF's mom won't be a part of your entourage when dress-shopping time comes around!

@Hummingbird125, congrats on your first sale! :D Too awesome. I hope you are able to find a printer that will be able to handle all the work you'll be getting!

This weekend was a total blur. I have no idea what happened on Friday. It's totally erased from my mind. I worked ten hours on Saturday and then had dinner with a friend that evening. Yesterday I worked a 12 and then my brother and I watched The Walking Dead! I love that show, but I am not going to enjoy the zombie dreams coming back (I always dream about zombies after I watch an episode). Today I had an exam (an easy one, just dosage calcs), and now I'm going to study, go to my counseling appointment tonight, and then see BF.
  • Hello ladies!  Weekend was good here.  Did a little work and poor H had to work for most of the weekend.

Saturday I met up with  @buggle2, @suzie211 and @loves2shop4shoes.  We had wine, noms, talked a ton, and I'm really, really glad we got a chance to become friends in real life.

Sunday was just a relaxing day (for me, that is...H was working).  Back to work for me now...it is kicking my ass today.

  • @Amapola14 - BF and I started watching season three of The Walking Dead on Netflix a couple weeks ago. It's not our favorite show (we don't like the drama and hate 90% of the characters) but I love that I usually have a zombie dream after watching it :)

This weekend was really fun. BF came up on Thursday because he had a test for a job he applied to early Friday morning in a town closer to where I live. So we got up early on Friday and drove there. After his test we went out for brunch and then we went to the brewery that makes his favorite beers.

On Saturday we went to the corn maze. It was really fun! We're hoping to go again in a couple weeks with some friends.

On Sunday BF left but I finished the book I was reading (which was excellent) and just spent the evening relaxing. I probably should've studied for my test on Tuesday but I'm not too worried about it so I'll just fit in some studying tonight.

@bethsmiles, what's this excellent book called? I'm trying to stock up on fun reading material for winter break.

Haha, I wouldn't mind the zombie dreams if I wasn't totally exhausted after them! They aren't scary or anything, but I literally spend the whole night strategizing and planning in case of a zombie attack. That can tire a woman out before she starts her week!

@Amapola14 - All But My Life is the book I read. It's a holocaust survivor's memoir so not exactly fun reading but still really really good.

Now I'm on to Crossed (the second book in the Matched series). I read Matched forever ago but didn't really enjoy it. It was okay not great but I don't like not finishing a series. Unfortunately, book 2 is worse than book 1. She started writing from two characters' perspectives and I'm really not a fan of that style.

ETA: Matched is decent enough to be some light, fun winter break reading though. It only took me 2 days to get through.

  • Thanks @bethsmiles, it will be going on my list!

I agree about Matched. I feel like a whole lot of these post-apocolyptic society YA kinds of books are getting kind of old...
  • @bethsmiles I want the excellent books name too!!!

@southernpeach89 I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It has truly been a crazy weekend :/

@buddysmom80 I think you will look beautiful in whatever dress you choose :) sometimes you've got to hear that side too!!

Our weekend was pretty good and relaxing. We had a lot of visitors but it wasn't nearly as stressful as it could have been. I did wake up with a scratchy throat this morning but I'm hoping I can drink it away with water, fluids, etc. maybe a cough drop if necessary.

I'm off to the dermatologist to make sure I'm not gonna be in too much pain for my wedding day (one of my skin diseases is being a bit of a butthead at the moment)

Then it's a fun filled wedding weekend for my BFF this weekend! I'm pretty psyched although I have a lot to do before we drive up on Friday.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

They are starting to lack originality. I did really love divergent but I think they will ruin it in the movies. Across the Never Sky was a fun read if you like post apocolyptic YA.

  • Glad you had a nice birthday weekend @bubbles053009 (apart from the food poisoning).
  • @bethsmiles I'm currently reading a holocaust memoir as well although its not the same one. I might have to check it out

Is anyone else as psyched for allegiant (divergent #3)?! Next week!!

I'm excited for the divergent movie until they mess it up but Enders game looks awful as a movie :(

  • @Blue @Amapola14 @Kait -Thank you, I've had grandparents and older family members pass in my lifetime but having a friend die that's within a couple years of my age is a whole other feeling that I'm definitely not accustomed to. Her life was taken from her at too young of an age and it just reminds me to always live each day fully and tell friends/family you love them constantly.
  • I worked on Saturday. BF and I went to see "Gravity" yesterday, which was awesome. We didn't realize that the showing we picked out was 3D until we got there, but it was totally worth it.

After the movie, we went home and had the best day ever as New England sports fans. A Tom Brady TD pass with five seconds to go + a Big Papi grand slam and Salty walk-off = two happy members of our household.

Also, I made this face earlier in the thread, and had to share. Because, JLaw. Duh.

  • Salty getting chased around the base path might be my most favorite Sox moment of the year.

I definitely yelled, really loud, at 11:45ish, when it happened.

Living in N.Y., I am FOR SURE not sorry.

I am! I pre-ordered it so it should automatically download to my Kindle. I'm so glad its coming out after my midterms! Although I think she is telling it from two perspectives in this book and I hate that :(

I'm considering not even seeing the divergent movie. Everything I see relating to it pisses me off.

  • I found a pic of my mom's MOB dress so hopefully this works. It's got this beautiful pearl cluster and it has pockets and it ties in the back! She also found a pair of heels with a similar sparkly cluster that goes really well with the dress! I was amazed because it's the first dress she tried on. My mom is usually super picky and she also returns half of what she buys most of the time so I was glad we found something right away. It unfortunately didn't save us from hours of shopping though.

    image

This weekend I think we're going to go to Joanne's or some other fabric store and try to find something that will match appropriately so we can make a shawl for her. We looked all over two malls and couldn't find anything that worked so hopefully we're successful with the fabric store.

Otherwise all I did this weekend was run errands and get chores done. BF and I had dinner at my parent's house last night and my dad helped me go over my new 401k so I could pick some hopefully not horrible investments. My new company is much bigger than my old one so I have much better options available than I did before.

  • Sounds like y'all all had pretty decent weekends. Sweet!

This weekend was a childfree weekend for me since my daughter is with her dad and stepmom this weekend. So, Saturday was spent watching LSU beat Florida (GEAUX TIGERS!!!!). Then I had to go to school/work to chaperone the Homecoming dance. After that, my fiance and I went to go grab a drink.
Sunday we visited with our moms, then came home and watched a heartbreaking loss of the Saints to the Patriots. Sucks... ugh.

So all in all, a pretty decent weekend, minus the Saints loss.

  • @KeptInStitches Most likely..we're in the Atlanta metro area so there are bound to be plenty of options. I just want Joanne's to have what we want because they are convenient and because then we don't have to trek all over to a million different stores looking for the right shade of "sand". :)
