Tell me about your weekend

Mine was great!

Friday was low-key. I lounged at home and read Divergent again.

Saturday, my aunt picked me up early and we drove up to URI to see my cousin. We walked around Newport and had lunch then went back to my cousin's house and took a nap. College parties don't get started until 11pm which is way past my normal bedtime. There were easily 70 people at the party. We played beer pong and met my cousin's friends. A couple guys were pretty rowdy and very wasted so my cousin made them leave. My aunt, my other cousin, and I decided it was getting late so we went upstairs with one last beer. All of a sudden, we hear a commotion outside so we look and everyone from the party is suddenly out front on the lawn and in the street. The guys that my cousin kicked out came back with 15 other guys wanting to fight. My cousin had blood all over his clothes and my aunt made him come in the house. And then the cops showed up and made everyone leave. Nobody was arrested and I don't think anyone was seriously hurt but holy shit, kids these days are crazy!

Yesterday, we drove back to NJ and I met 2 other cousins at the Eagles bar nearby. I drank. A lot. The Eagles lost so we went to another bar and drank some more. H met me there and we headed home around 7 (I think). I facetimed with Bri for a bit and then headed to bed. I think the only reason I'm not dying today is because I went to bed so early last night. Miracle!

@swazzle That sounds like some college party craziness! I'm an advisor for a sorority at NIU and had to attend a fundraiser they held on Thursday night. The Greek system there has had issues and that was the one thing I worried about! Luckily, the frat boys behaved and just think the girls have a cranky old lady advisor.

And apparently TK mobile, ate the other half of my post.  FU TK.

    We'll try again.

Friday, I had Shoes and Minskat over.  We drank lots of wine into the wee hours of the morning.  So much fun!

Saturday, H and I had a wedding in the burbs.  Interesting night.  The whole day lacked the usual feeling of love you have at a wedding.  I cry over tv weddings when I don't even know the people.  The B and G really seemed to be more into just being married to some one.  They seem happy, but its a thank god someone else wants to get married to me happy, not an I can't live with out you thing.   Our group of friends is so much fun to hang out with, so the reception was amazing.  The food not so much.  Our steaks at our table were all still mooing and the potatoes were cold and crunchy.  Yuck.  At least the after hours party room was loaded with junk food!

Sunday, a very hungover H and I met up with BIL and their cousin at a Bengals bar for the game.  It was odd being in Chicago while the Bears were playing, and not having them be the game on.  It looks like I didn't miss too much though.   The Bengals pulled out an amazing last minute field goal that made H super happy.

So far Monday is looking rough!  My stomach is not so subtly reminding me I can't play like I used to!

  • @swazzle, holy crap!!!!

Friday night I was with my cheerleaders at the high school football game. We won 35-0!!!
Saturday we hung around the house until it was time for the LSU football game and the UFC fight and we went to watch both of those at a friend's house.
Sunday, FI and DD went grocery shopping and then we all went to our engagement party. It was a great time!
  • This weekend we went up to my parent's house.

Friday we drove up there after we got home from work. We stopped at BF's mom's house on the way and she gave us fresh pierogies...YUM! I read and worked on some knitting on my way up there while BF drove (I hate driving at night!).

Saturday was my dad's birthday, he made breakfast, then we all got dressed and my dad, BF and I went to Binghamton where I was able to get a case of my FAVORITE Finger Lakes wine. I also rec'ed some red wines to my dad and he is now a red wine convert. Then we went to the amazing-ness called Wegman's and my BF's mind was blown. It was his first time there and he was just in awe. Saturday afternoon we drank a ton of wine, had dinner (I don't remember what it was) and my mom made Boston Cream Pie for my dad and it was pretty good.

Sunday my dad cooked up the pierogies for breakfast, then we made some snacks for the Pats/Jets game. I was heckled through the whole game by my dad (he roots for the other team all. the. time.), then he broke my stones for a good ten minutes while we packed up the car and headed home. We got home and I literally passed out at 8:30.

I can't wait for the weekend and it's only Monday!!!!

  • Sounds like everybody's weekends were fun...and wild!

There were a lot of family dinners this weekend. BF's aunt and her BF were in town, so we got dinner with them on Friday, then Saturday we all went to dinner with my brother to meet his new GF. Afterward we all came back to the house to play games (Scattergories - yes, we are pretty tame, lol), but BF wasn't feeling well, so he went to bed early. Sunday morning, BF slept in super-late while I studied and made breakfast and dinner. After he got up we went on a nice long walk and talked a loooooot of feelings. My poor BF is probably all out of feelings for the rest of 2013, lol. After we got home, I just complained and studied.

Ooh, and The Walking Dead. I was irrationally excited about it. Love that show.

My weekend was great, I got a lot of wedding stuff done. On Friday I finished putting the labels on my favors and I worked on our centerpieces which took forever but I'm glad are 3/4 of the way done, I just have to stick candles in some of the mason jars and fill them up with water so that will be done probably closer to the wedding. That night I also found my rehearsal dinner dress along with my little sister.

Saturday I got my wax which didn't hurt nearly as bad as the first time so I was pretty relieved. We then went to an afternoon wedding which was very sentimental but interesting at parts lol. I really felt for the bride before the ceremony because it was pouring down rain and it had to be pushed back for about 20 minutes until it lightened up a bit. It was fine until the entire wedding party got up to the altar and then it started pouring again so we sat in the rain throughout the ceremony but it was beautiful either way.

The reception didn't have enough tables for the amount of guests so there were at least 2-3 families eating standing up...that was awkward but seriously they had no where to sit. The DJ played the pokemon theme song (I don't know how to spell it) and literally that was the only time guests got up and danced w/o having to be told to by the photographer and DJ...I guess the guests weren't into dancing lol.

Sunday was good, I had my final fitting x3 and my dress is complete. I can't pick it up until a couple days before the wedding because they are steaming and pressing it for me : ( I just want it in my closet.

ETA: Instead of saying my "weekend" I said my "wedding"....I guess you can tell where my brain is at lol.
  • Friday night I went to a Norwex party at my aunts. For anyone who has never heard of Norwex, you should definitely Google it. It was pretty insightful.

Saturday the BF and I went to Kings Island in Cincinnati,OH and rode roller coasters all day! It was rainy and cold but we still had a blast, plus, because of the weather there were hardly any lines!

Sunday, the BF and I went out to eat for lunch at a yummy Chinese restaurant. Afterwards, on our way home, he surprised me and took me to a jeweler to look at engagement rings!!! It was very unexpected. I picked out the set I wanted, so sometime after Christmas when the BF has more money, he's going back to get it. Not sure when he plans to propose, but I'm guessing probably on our anniversary in March.  Later that night, we carved pumpkins while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas.

It was a great weekend!!! :)

  • this weekend sped by.  :(  nothing really exciting happened, except Saturday I spent 5 hours making tamales and then snacking on tacos made with the leftover fillings.  and Sunday I got a little bit of Christmas shopping done!

last night, about 1 AM, I woke up because it was storming really loudly.  and then about 2:15 AM our house alarm started to go off!  both dogs were barking and my H was trying to figure out what was going on.  the alarm company called, and I guess the thunder shook the house so hard it set off one of the window alarms!  it took me until after 3 AM to go back to sleep, and then 5:15 came way too early after that.

thank heavens I have a massage scheduled tonight and dinner is already ready (except I need to roast some asparagus to go with our stew).

OH!  and one of the tires in my car has a nail in it, so H took my car (and I took his) so that he could go get the tire fixed and I could still make it to my massage.  however, he didn't take any of my stuff out of my car and my work badge to get on base was in there!  so I had to get a temporary day badge (aka Badge of Shame).  it took over 30 minutes to wait in line to get a Badge of Shame.

it's definitely been a crazy Monday morning at our place.
  • BF left for a bachelor party on Friday so I was on my own most of the weekend.

Saturday was my BFF's little sister's wedding. It was ok. I thought their food was really great and they hosted beer and wine which is just perfect for me since I never go for hard liquor. I thought my BFF looked absolutely beautiful in her dress and her sister looked beautiful too (although I thought she could have smiled more). My BFF gave a really sweet, from the heart, toast for the bride and groom. She got up there and started to talk and just started crying because she was overwhelmed with happiness for her sister. Up until that point I hadn't thought I was going to cry when I give a toast for @southernpeach89 but now I'm not so sure. I'll either laugh or cry...probably both. Things I was disappointed in - there was plenty of seating for the ceremony but nowhere near enough at the reception. I'm not sure if this was because they didn't have assigned tables or if because there just weren't enough tables and chairs...but there were more than a few people standing and trying to eat their food. The pastor gave a sweet sermon but at one point he had to pause and remember the bride and groom's names...didn't know what that was about. The venue was in a heavily trafficked area... you could hear cars driving by the entire time and at one point a train came through (luckily just before the bride walked out at least). The photographer had to request everyone to get on the dance floor so she could get a group dancing picture. Maybe it was just that this wasn't a dancing/partying type of crowd but I feel like getting a group dancing picture shouldn't have been an issue.

Sunday I met with another bridesmaid and we bought some decorations and bling for @southernpeach89 's bachelorette. I am so excited for this Friday!!! It's going to be amazing! Afterwards I took the pup to the dog park for an hour or so and she had a blast running all over the place with all the other dogs. I really need to take her more often. BF came home that afternoon from the bachelor party and we went up to North Georgia to go apple picking. We managed to snag a few Granny Smith's that were still in season and basically loaded up on Arkansas Black...it's a really dark red variety of apple that's crisp and not overly sweet. We went home, made delicious soup and then proceeded to pass out because we were both so exhausted.

Friday night FI was in a car accident, the second one we had this week (I was rear ended on Tuesday, I'm fine and so was the car for the most part). He was on the freeway when car A pulled out from the berm without looking or being up to speed and car B slammed right into the back of car A. FI was in car C about 200 yards back, and slammed on his breaks as soon as he saw what was happening. But his brakes locked up and he couldn't avoid hitting car B, though he was going less than 10 mph. The cops came and found car A at fault for all the damage, and no one was seriously hurt.

Saturday morning we had our E-pics at the Westside Market (the oldest continually working market in the Country and our favorite place to spend time). Our photographer was awesome, and did such a great job working with us it was hard to feel all lovey and cuddly in a public place but she was really patient with us. AND she had a 1 shot super sneak peak up 2 hours later and a 6 shot preview up on FB the next day! She said the same would be true for our wedding, a 6-10 shot preview the very next day! Here's the link to the preview if anyone wants to see them:

Saturday night we had dinner with my family, and Sunday FI and were super lazy and stayed in bed most of the day, until my RCIA class at 6:30...

  • This weekend had a lot going on!  Friday we had a housewarming party that I bailed out of, as I had something every night this past week and was just completely wiped.

Saturday - nuts!  I had a hair appointment, and then we met with a minister.  And Oh. My. God.  The guy was very nice, and he just thought my FI was the best thing since sliced bread because they work in the same industry (outside of ministry). But Dear Lord, the price for him was astronomical.  Seriously - insane.  After saying we "needed to think about it", we grabbed an awesome lunch and then bought all out things for invitations so I can start making those slowly over the next few months whenever we have time.

Saturday night - my first ever experience with Whirlyball!  For those of you who haven't heard of/haven't played - it's a blast.  There are two teams of five people, all in bumper cars, with this wicket-y thing in their hands.  Basically you throw a wiffle ball around and try to score in your goal - kind of lacrosse-ish.  I definitely had fun, and I will admit, part of the fun was shadowing my FI when he was on the opposite team and bumping into him :)

Sunday was just sleep day.  The week had been so "go go go" that I just took the day to nap and do a whole lot of nothing besides watching Once.  Fun Sunday :)

  • I worked all day Saturday - we lost everything except for our men's hockey game, which was really awesome, so it made up for the rest of the day. Also, the Red Sox won the ALCS, so they're going to the World Series and I'm SO EFFING EXCITED. I haven't loved a team this much since the 2004 team that won the WS. They're just so much fun.

Yesterday, BF & I went to breakfast at the diner then came home & relaxed on the couch all day. He went back out & bought me wine, so I drank while watching football. The Patriots lost to the Jets, which made me angry, but then I remembered that the Sox are going to the World Series and felt better. We ordered pizza for dinner, then he went in the bedroom to play video games while I watched Grey's from Thursday, then he watched Homeland while I watched Food Network competitions.

  • Happy Monday, ladies. Today it is chilly here!

This weekend was pretty great! I made the wedding cake replica I was talking about Friday. It was delicious! DH was surprised and happy I made it.

Friday night we just hung out at home - I don't actually remember what we did. I think just watched some of our DVR stuff. . Castle maybe? We went to bed early because . . .

Saturday we got up early and drove about 2 hours to a state park. We went for a 5 mile hike - it was really gorgeous and so nice out. After our hike we went to an apple orchard and picked a peck of apples (with a few pears thrown in). We got a few gourds and some cinnamon sugar apple cider donuts. NOM! Then we drove home, ordered chinese food and watched the Blackhawks game. Fell asleep before the end of SNL, which makes us old, but whatever.

Sunday we got up early again and I came in to work for about 2 hours. Then we watched 3 football games (The Packers are back at the top of the NFC North, woop woop! Many thanks to Jay Cutler for breaking his vagina). And that about sums up our weekend. Pretty nice time :)
  • I had a wonderful weekend. Saturday morning I met a few friends up at an outlet mall about an hour away. I bought new jeans, a sweater, earrings, and taupe suede booties from Kenneth Cole that I am now obsessed with. Saturday night I wore all my new clothes and BF and I went for Tapas in the city. Literally everything we ate was amazing. I had several margaritas and then we went to a really cute bar nearby. While at the bar sipping delicious/fancy cocktails, my ex-roommate (the one who had cancelled our double-date plans for the same night just a couple of days earlier) texted me because I had "checked in" on Facebook from the restaurant. She said "You guys are right near me! The roomie and I are going out in a few, wanna meet up?" I told her we probably would, and that she should text me when she's out. After BF and I were done with our drinks, we moved the car to a spot closer to the bar the exroommate was planning on meeting us at. I texted her at 10:50, asking if she was out yet, and she replied "leaving in 10". Ten minutes later, I still hadn't heard from her, so BF and I went home (he had been ready to go home for a while, anyway). She NEVER wrote back to me saying she was out. So, good thing I wasn't waiting for her. I was so annoyed, because it now felt like she had ditched me twice in the same night. Annoying.

Yesterday BF and I were SOOOO LAZY all day, except for going for a hike with the pup in a nearby park. Last night we started watching funny videos on YouTube and completely forgot to watch our two Sunday night shows (Homeland & Masters of Sex).

Today I have nothing on my agenda other than applying for jobs and taking photos of the Save The Dates I designed last week, so I can list them on Etsy.

  • This weekend was busy as heck. Friday night, met the BF's best friend's grandfather. They're like a second family to BF. The grandfather was sweet, a bit of a dirty old man, but he was fun. Kind of guy that lives in the backwoods of Vermont in a log cabin he built to stay away from society.

Saturday we had open lodge at his Freemason's lodge which was ok. (Great German food!) And then we went to his coworkers' get together. Stayed about 4 hours. Once I got talking with some of the other ladies it wasn't so bad. I just get so nervous meeting new people, especially those a lot older than me.

Sunday I was cranky and sensitive and at the end of my period. I just want sexytimes... is it that hard body? Good thing BF is driving up Tuesday after work and staying the night. I'm going to definitely need it. We took a walk and got Macdaddy's for lunch (pulled pork mac and cheese, umm yes please?) and went for a walk in the woods along the lake. I'm definitely not happy it's Monday already. The weekend was so busy.

I love it - If you you like Mad Men, you would definitely like it. If you don't like Mad Men, but only due to the sexism or (at times) extremely slow pace, you'll still like this. It's really interesting to see how taboo it was to discuss sex - even for doctors, and how little anyone knew about it until pretty recently.

I've never watched Mad Men. I will have to check it out!

  • My weekend was a weekend.

Friday night I cast off the Doctor Who scarf! If I had to guess, I'd say it's around 16 feet long or so. It needs fringing and trimming of many little ends, but I will post when that's done.

Saturday I cleaned my bedroom closet because I got sick of it attacking me every time I opened the door. I worked in all the ends on a crocheted granny square afghan I made last spring, and that's on my bed now. Good job, too, because it's starting to get cold up here ...

Sunday I watched football and my fantasy team's spectacular implosion, even by my standards (which are legendary). The only team in the league I beat was the team whose owner quit adjusting for injuries and byes in week 2. Sadly, they are not the team I was playing. In all seriousness, I do hope that no one was too badly injured yesterday (career-ending, I mean, there were LOTS of season-ending), especially Jermichael Finley, because I watched that hit and that was terrifying.
  • @KeptinStiches - I won my fantasy game by 2 points. TWO POINTS!! I haven't won in 5 weeks, so I am pretty psyched. If I had started different players I would have dominated, but a win is a win at this point. I am worried about Finely. Hopefully he makes a fully recovery. Scary stuff!
  • Friday night, I went to @Suzie211's GORGEOUS house for wine and nom noms with @Minskat30.  Suzie's homemade fruit dip is made of rainbows and smiles and is to DIE for.

Saturday, I did house work and hung out.  Then I helped my brother look for a puppy.  Then brother and his BF came over while DH and I were googling dogs online.  My brother ended up getting an English Bulldog puppy from a breeder!  SO cute.  Then we ordered in Chinese and toasted my brother's new puppy with good champagne in the fancy champagne flutes.

Sunday, DH and I slept in, got coffee.  I made breakfast.  We snuggled, watched My Cat From Hell, and showered.  Then we went shopping with my brother for dog things and went to Costco.  Then we came home, I did 3 loads of laundry, and DH and I had a nice, relaxing evening.  It was AWESOME and we needed it.
  • Friday night I went to dinner with Bean, my mom, and her coworker/coworker's kids. Those boys are insanely misbehaved, have zero respect for their mother, and talk back to just about anyone. Not gonna lie, after about 5 minutes, I finally stopped holding my tongue and came down on both of them. I had to come down about 2 more times on each of them before they realized I wasn't playing their little games. I finally made both boys sit on their hands in the booth for the remainder of the meal. God love my mom's coworker, but at no point did she attempt to control their behavior. She just let me handle it. Perhaps that is part of the problem. Other part is her soon to be ex is an asshole who treats her the same way and the kids are just following suit. *rant over*

Afterwards, Bean and I met up with a good friend and her son at our high school's homecoming game. Since we both still live in the area, we try to get a group of our classmates together each year to watch the game together. This year it was just the two of us and our boys. It took us 20 minutes to get my hoodie zipped over my belly. We were *this close* to asking a nearby police officer for help. Our team was creamed 30something to 7.

Saturday I took Bean to the eye doctor. Turns out his eye sight has gotten a good bit worse, but not only that, his wonky eye has gotten way worse. Now he has to go see a vision therapist to strengthen his eye muscles. After that we went home and I took up my position on the couch until 9:30pm when we headed over to my sister's house to grab some things. She handed me down a changing table and changing pad, a pack & play that was barely ever used, a bath tub (it's pink but the wee one won't know the difference and heck-it was free), a door jumper thingamabob, a music table play thing, a carrier, and some blankets (1 of which was Bean's originally!)

Yesterday we worked on Elijah's many projects, vegged on the couch some more, and then I made Chicken Mole for dinner.

I'm gonna have to get used to getting off my butt again, because sometime this week we'll be taking in a sweet purebred female dobie as a foster. She's going to have to have a leg amputated due to a knee injury that went untreated for far too long. Poor thing. As soon as we get her, I'll post pictures. She was abandoned at the vets office several weeks ago. I can't wait to love on her so that she knows she's still loved and cared for. Because of our constantly changing situation, we can't commit to adopt just yet, but we're really eager to start fostering for this group and help some sweet pups find their human.

  • @cschiano - Yay for the win! I started Jay Cutler (out in the 2nd with a groin injury), the Titans D/ST (who didn't show up, apparently ...), Brandon Marshall and Martellus Bennett (see: Jay Cutler), and Wes Welker (hey, Peyton, where's the end zone?). Oh, and I benched Matt Ryan and Harry Douglas. I play BF this weekend - maybe I can convince him that a good 5-year anniversary present would be to let me win, but it won't work for 2 reasons: 1.) he's every bit as competitive as I am ane 2.) our league will definitely cry collusion. They practically cried collusion when we traded Martellus Bennett and Denarius Moore.
