Wedding Party

Color overload?

The colors for our wedding are teal and chocolate brown with cream and lime/leaf green accents. I have an idea for the BM dresses but am a little worried that it will be too much.

The wedding is in late November, and I'd like to have alternating chocolate brown dresses with a teal sash and teal dresses with and chocolate brown sash. I have 3 curvy bridesmaids who I think would appreciate the darker color, and 3 stick thin one who could rock the teal.

I also wanted to alternate cream lilly/orchid bouquets with light green lilly/orchid bouquets. Sound pretty in my head, but I'm wondering if it might be overload. A friend recently got married in Costa Rica and had different color dresses, but they were very casual and it was a beach wedding. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Color overload?

  • I was in a wedding where the bride said that she wanted to use chocolate brown, purple, sage, and red....WTF. As she got closer to the wedding, red got phased out and purple slowly faded into a memory rather than an actual choice. (Just saying...)

  • Yeah, I think it's all a bit too much.

  • I would stick with one dress color and different flowers ... or different dresses but cream flowers for everyone. Not both.

I mean, it won't HURT anyone if you decide to go with your original idea, so if you really have your heart set on that combo then go nuts. But since you asked, yes, I think it sounds like it's all over the place.

  • I think it would work if you really want that, but I agree with the other ladies that it sounds like a tad much.  Maybe go with the different dresses, but same flowers?
  • Thanks! I definitely want a color mix-up (I'm not traditional in any way!) but I'll stick to one or the other. Much appreciated :)
  • What about something like this? You could change and have the bottom part brown. These are both WToo dresses. I've seen the strapless one in person at a bridal store and it is really cute.

  • I would rather wear a chocolate dress than a teal one. And it's more likely to be worn again
